Job Summary
The U-MConcussion Center (https://concussion.umich.edu/) was founded in 2018 as part of the U-MBiosciences Initiative (https://biosciences.umich.edu/) , serving as the hub for concussion-related clinical care, research, outreach, and engagement on behalf of the U-M community. The center uses a multidisciplinary approach to answer fundamental questions about concussion prevention, identification, diagnosis, management, and outcomes.
The team seeks a highly capable Clinical Research Coordinator to support and advance the center's research activities. The ideal candidate will provide the highest level of excellence and professionalism while performing a full range of research coordination duties with concussion researchers from the University of Michigan community. This role will report to the center's Managing Director, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from functional supervision by the Associate Directors of the Research Core.
Responsibilities*
This position will coordinate Center research projects, including regulatory and data management tasks. Please note, the percentages reflected in this description may vary throughout the duration of the role, given the nature of tasks may ebb and flow based on project status and center needs.
(60%) Assist with research projects, as assigned, including but not limited to:
Regulatory support (e.g., higher-level engagement with the IRB, eResearch, etc.)
Subject recruitment support (e.g., UMHealthResearch.Org)
Data collection and management support (e.g., data management, RedCap databases, Qualtrics Research surveys, data collection sheet/case report form development, standardization of MiChart documentation, data entry, etc.)
Clinical trial support (e.g., coordination of study activities such as billing calendars in OnCore with Clinical Trial Support Units, coordination of ClinicalTrials.Gov registration and reporting with the Michigan Institute for Clinical Health Research, coordination of data safety monitoring board and study monitor activities, etc.)
Clinical cohort discovery and Medical Records Review support (e.g., Emerse, Data Direct, etc.)
Grant and abstract/manuscript dissemination Support (e.g., literature reviews, reference management, manuscript submission)
Lead the coordination of clinical research efforts across different concussion intake points and clinical units across the U-M enterprise (e.g., Emergency Medicine, Neurology, PM&R, UHS, Athletic Medicine).
(40%) Provide ongoing research support services to individual investigators and projects, as assigned, including sustained support in any of the above categories as well as other tasks such as:
Participant enrollment and management (e.g., screening, consenting, scheduling follow-up, distributing research stipends)
Data collection (e.g., retrospective chart review, prospective data collection)
Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems
Required Qualifications*
Minimum of 2 years of experience in research coordination
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent education and experience
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft software applications and research-specific programs such as RedCap, eResearch, Qualtrics, OnCore, Emerse, and Data Direct
Superb communication and organizational/planning skills, including great attention to detail, accuracy, diligence, task focus, and the ability to carefully follow detailed research protocols
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with research teams, including principal investigators
High degree of respect for sensitive and confidential information
Schedule flexibility with occasional availability outside of the usual 8-5 business hours, with advance notice

Desired Qualifications*
Content knowledge and experience in concussion
Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn University of Michigan research-related organizational structure, policies, and procedures

Additional Information
This is a full-time, term-limited position (through June 30, 2026) with the potential for renewal, subject to success in the role and program funding availability.
The general salary range for this position is $55-65K, with eligibility to participate in the school's 2025 merit program. An offer may be extended outside of this range based on equity, experience, knowledge, and skills for the position. The primary work location is the U-M Concussion Center, which is located in the newly renovated School of Kinesiology building. Depending on research projects, job functions may be conducted off-site, including the Michigan Medicine campus (e.g., NeuroSports, PM&R) and the athletics campus. This is an onsite position with the potential for a hybrid/remote option, to be discussed with the supervisor. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment.
