What You'll Do

As a member of the Creative Studios team, you will focus on the latest generative AI and extended reality technologies. As a Project Manager, you will collaborate with a diverse team including designers, artists, developers, and faculty to support projects applying generative AI and XR technologies. You will play an important role in project management, from initiation through to delivery, ensuring that projects align with strategic goals and are delivered on time and within scope. The Project Manager will report directly to the Associate Director of Experiential Technologies.

Responsibilities*

  • Apply project management skills for Experiential Technologies projects such as partner communication, team member and process management, design, and quality assurance in collaboration with faculty, CAI teams, administrators, vendors, and other external partners.

  • Manage project tasks including project scoping, meeting scheduling, communication plans, budget management, and resource allocation to ensure execution and consistency of deliverables across CAI's Creative Studios portfolio.

  • Develop detailed project plans to track progress using project management tools and platforms, adjust plans, and deliver successful outcomes.

  • Facilitate meetings and communication channels to ensure clear exchange of information among project partners.

  • Create and help develop and implement project documentation and best practices for the Creative Studios domain and across teams.

  • Participate in learning and application of project management methodologies to support educational projects. Support the XR equipment checkout processes and software allocations for internal and university partners.

  • Manage and align many diverse perspectives, including those of faculty partners, external partners and collaborators, CAI colleagues, and other U-M and external partners and guide agreement to move projects forward.

  • Work with copyright personnel, accessibility experts, design teams, faculty, and third-party vendors to ensure that the digital content of Academic Innovation initiatives complies with our policies, especially regarding design thinking, copyright, accessibility, privacy, and data access policy.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2 or more years of technical project management experience, in fields such as educational technology, management of technology, business administration, or consulting.

  • Experience with project management tools and software, such as google sheets, trello, Asana, or similar tools.

  • Ensuring Creative Studios domain goals are met.

  • Experience planning and delivering multiple simultaneous technology-focused projects involving diverse sets of partners

  • Respond to new information or unexpected challenges.

  • Understanding of generative AI and extended reality technologies is desirable, though not required.

Additional Information

  • This is not a remote position and any adjustments to a standard in-person schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

  • You may have occasional non-standard work hours, such as evenings or weekends.

  • You have legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Please note: This is a 5 year term-limited position with the possibility of renewal depending on funding.

Salary Information

The general salary range for this position is $62,000 - $67,000. You can expect to be paid a great compensation package. Factors used to determine salary include experience for the position and internal equity within the unit. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor agreement and transparency throughout the recruiting process.
