Summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a qualified Research Assistant to assist the team at the International Center for Automotive Medicine (ICAM). ICAM is a collaborative of researchers with surgical, medical, radiological, technological, engineering, and data expertise who are working together to prevent injuries to motor vehicle occupants and vulnerable road users with the support of the automotive industry. This position will support all aspects of ICAM?s research, from data analysis to crash investigation to injury coding. This position will be ideal for those who have interest in automotive crash investigation, medical research, data analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities*

  • Oversees the request, collection, and processing of medical records and imaging

  • Monitors data entry and reviews injury lists and patient data for consciousness and clarity for research team use

  • Collaborates with research/clinical decision makers and stakeholders to ensure the development and implementation of consistent system standards

  • Functions as a subject matter expert in the nursing/crash injury field for the research/clinical team

  • Continues to build and share knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers from a medical record collection, processing, and analysis perspective

  • Data entry and management: the candidate will populate an existing database regarding medical coding (AIS/ICD10) and injury causation/trauma. The candidate should be familiar with data acquisition, data entry, and best practices

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position

  • At least 3 years of experience in analyzing and interpreting process, clinical outcomes and costs of care.

  • Experience with Internet research

  • Understanding of the basics of anatomy and physiology

  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a multicultural and collaborative environment

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience with Human Study research

  • Experience with chart review

  • Experience with relational databases, data extraction, and analysis

Background Screening
