Description
Our client, a reputable organization in the Government/Non-Profit sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated accounting detail oriented with a background in government or non-profit finance to make an impact in a meaningful, mission-driven environment.
Position Overview: The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and supporting the organization's financial goals. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in [government/non-profit] accounting, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with [governmental/non-profit] accounting standards
Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
Assist in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis
Oversee grant management, compliance reporting, and fund accounting
Support annual audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors Implement and monitor internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights and support decision-making
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on government or non-profit sectors
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Dynamics Great Plains) and strong Excel skills
Knowledge of GAAP and/or GASB standards and regulatory compliance in government/non-profit accounting Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
