Actalent Network Management Systems Engineer in Annapolis, Maryland
Job Title: Network Management Systems EngineerJob Description
As a Network Management Systems Engineer, you will serve as a technical member on projects that involve moderate to highly complex environments, leveraging high availability concepts. You will develop and implement project plans within budget, schedule, and resource constraints. Your role will also involve capturing, analyzing, decomposing, and creating requirements for network systems, products, and subsystems of moderate complexity. You will be using an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on customer needs and business requirements, to design, develop, document, test, and maintain network systems. You will also author, review, and maintain documentation during all phases of the system design life cycle. Additionally, you will apply Security/Cybersecurity methodologies to network and systems design to provide secure services that support business requirements. Post-fielding support, resolving operational issues involving L2 and L3, in a multi-routing network infrastructure, will also be part of your role.
Hard Skills
Understanding of IP Networks, security and network management concepts
Network Operator level working knowledge
Linux OS operations and concepts (RedHat or Centos preferred)
Deployment methodologies such as: RedHat Package Manager (RPM), the person, CM Tool use working knowledge (Git Repository), Automation concepts and application
Network Management Concepts
Ability to read/modify MIBs
Understanding of SNMP Trap OIDs/Varbinds and how they are used in network management systems
Familiarity with all three SNMP versions (v1/v2c/v3), Status polling concepts
Basic understanding of SQL
Shell, Perl, Python Bash
Network Concepts: Basic or advanced understanding of following concepts and functions: Routing/Switching, Security Concepts & Firewalls, IP subnetting and CIDR, IP routing concepts and protocols, NAT/PAT
HA concepts and application to server/network environments
Soft Skills
Interdisciplinary approach

Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Annapolis, Maryland and some days remote.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring you to be onsite three days a week. The core working hours are from 9 am to 4 pm.
