The role you’ll contribute:

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Primary responsibility is the provision of distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks, which includes but is not limited to assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, pharmacy billing and customer service, and regulatory compliance. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Accurately responds to prescription dispensing requests, coordinates medication access and adherence, prepares medications for pharmacist review/check, performs claim adjudication and processes customer (patient) account reconciliation.

  • Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in pharmacy specific computer systems and operational programs

  • Maintains operational expertise and competency and actively provides coverage of at least one of the following:

o Rx Plus and Expedien Rx Specialty distributive pharmacy operations

o Expedien Rx Non-Specialty distributive pharmacy operations

o Rx Plus Pharmacy Quality Assurance (QA) operations: Tech check Tech where authorized

  • Answers incoming customer (patient) and provider calls to the pharmacy in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring standards for Average Speed to Answer (ASA) and Abandonment Rate (AR) are met, if applicable

  • Interprets and accurately enters prescription order information into pharmacy software system, ensuring proper patient, drug, medication directions, refills and prescriber are selected

  • Processes claims adjudication and copay assistance billing for new prescription orders and refill requests, ensuring appropriate National Drug Code (NDC) selection and shipping method are selected at the time of dispense. Verifies ship date and ship to address, if applicable

  • Assists patients with copay assistance program, if applicable, coordinating benefits and obtaining approval prior to processing payments

  • Monitors prescription workflow queue(s) to ensure daily productivity goals are being met and shipments are processed in a timely manner; maintains patient appointment calendar, if applicable

  • Performs first check for new prescription orders (Tech check Tech), verifying proper patient, drug, medication directions, refills, prescriber address and credentials.

  • Understands thoroughly the AdventHealth prescription benefit plan and commercial payor processes, including Specialty programs and communicates effectively with patient and prescriber regarding prior authorizations, appeals, copayments and limited distribution drugs

  • Contacts prescribers’ office regarding clarification on missing prescription information and/or prescription coverage details including prior authorization requirements, keeping the patient informed on any delays in processing time

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Two years of pharmacy technician experience, in a retail pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy or hospital setting

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Florida Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) license; must complete state required continuing education requirements

  • PTCB- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT); must complete national required continuing education requirements
