Hourly Pay Rate: $20.00

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM - Extended hours and possible weekends during peak fertilizer season

  • Forklift experience is required for this position - Boom crane, Front-end loader and/or Skid Steer experience is preferable

  • Must be comfortable working near water and from heights

    Location Information

    Watco’s West Memphis Terminal handles a variety of bulk and break-bulk material via truck and barge. River service connects to the Gulf of Mexico via the Mississippi River.

    Position Summary

  • The primary purpose of this position is to work directly in the transloading operation in the full range of duties and responsibilities involved in the moving of bulk and break bulk materials; to provide backup coverage to other material handling operations when required; and to develop and exhibit the necessary safety culture, leadership, decision making and operational skills required.

  • Knowledge of crane operations a plus.

  • Operate and maintain front-end loaders, skid steers, and forklifts.

    Job Description

  • The primary purpose of this position is to transload materials by using a Friction Crane, Forklift (Taylor Lift), Skid Steer, and other heavy equipment, as necessary. This position will be operating in the field inside of barges, inside gondola cars, warehouses, and other locations as needed. Drivers License is required.

  • Operates and Maintains – 140 Ton Manitowoc Friction Truck Crane or equal equipment, Front-end loader, Forklifts and work truck.

  • Must oversee general management of equipment and facility for normal terminal operations.

  • Safe, efficient operation of any equipment involved at the terminal.

  • Maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance i.e., lubricating, cleaning, adding gear lubricants, changing cables and document all activities performed daily.

  • Responsible for checking all fluids and air pressures of equipment being used.

  • This position assists the existing Crane Operator as needed and will also be required operate forklifts, driving work truck and various equipment throughout the Port facility.

  • Team Member will also be required to work on and around barges and the dock, as needed.

  • Responsible for safety of barge, truck or rail cars, and all teammates working in the area at all times, especially when vessel is in motion and when material is being removed from or loaded into the vessel.

  • Observes load hookup and determines safety of load.

  • Observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions.

  • Uses equipment and materials properly.

  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and minor repairs.

  • As directed performs activities of other co-workers.

  • Must be willing to work shift and/or overtime hours during the week and/or weekends as dictated by operations.

  • To appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required.

  • Fastens attachments to crane with cables and becket pins.

  • Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on equipment daily or as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.
