The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking an individual to assume a leadership role in the management of areas within the Sustainable Development Program primarily focusing on active transportation (bicycle and pedestrian) planning. This position will be classified as a Senior Transportation Planner and will oversee staff activities and implement programs and projects related to active transportation initiatives for the Dallas-Fort Worth region with a population exceeding 7.5 million. This position is an exciting opportunity to see integrated transportation and land-use planning move from theory to policy to implementation. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced office environment with multiple priorities and assist in conducting activities related to multimodal corridor studies using context-sensitive design principles, infrastructure planning and design, complete streets, funding, speaking engagements related to active transportation planning throughout the region, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, analysis, and data management. Some specific project areas the successful candidate will assist with include: implementing a regional pedestrian safety action plan, supporting regional complete streets policies and implementation projects, providing technical assistance for the development of local pedestrian and bicycle master plans, coordinating the work of consultants for alignment studies and preliminary engineering of projects related to Regional Veloweb paths and on-street bicycle facilities, coordinating projects related to first/last mile connections to transit stations, conducting safety and education community outreach, supporting the regional Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), supporting funding programs and calls for projects initiatives, and developing active transportation project funding criteria and performance measures.
