Amazon Business Intel Engineer III , ReLo Ops Excellence, Decision Support Team in Arlington, Virginia

The North American Reverse Logistics Programs Team is seeking an experienced Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to lead the development of BI solutions. You will lead the development of the ReLo Programs Team BI framework and capabilities. You will be responsible for aggregating data from existing sources as well as building and managing new pipelines and artifacts. This includes developing and distributing standard and ad-hoc reporting for various performance metrics. You will support the planning and analysis of complex projects, with the objective of identifying optimal test/pilot location sites, providing statistical evaluations (e.g., regression), and making recommendations for deployment. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and deployment of foundational structures to support a unified programs team. This includes processes and mechanisms that enable efficient, nimble, and transparent project governance, execution, and communication.

You have demonstrated a knack for self-guided learning, rapidly acquiring and applying knowledge and new skills in nuanced situations. You must be able to solve difficult problems that are loosely defined or structured. You have a record of mastering unfamiliar data lineages, from root systems to business utilization, to deliver consistently high quality results with limited guidance. You build optimized and enduring solutions. You are adept at knowing when and how to apply a broad range of industry standard data design approaches, as they relate to analytics, and follow best practices. You apply basic statistical methods to complicated problems, understanding the methods’ assumptions and limitations, and effectively communicate the insights to your customers and business partners.

The candidate is expected to deliver results that drive business decisions and highlight new opportunities through effectively navigating and working in a matrixed organization, influencing managers, balancing customer and technical needs, and providing recommendations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Develop solid understanding of ReLo field operations processes, technologies, reporting, and KPIs

· Partner with stakeholders across the ReLo network support teams, tech, and field operations

· Partner with appropriate Data Engineering and Software Development teams to define the data elements and structure that the team should leverage to enable analytical capabilities as well as capture and store key data elements

· Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions

· Make recommendations for new metrics, techniques, and strategies to improve decision-making

· Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to select test/pilot sites, analyze KPI performance, and provide roll out recommendations

· Contribute to the development/configuration and management of team systems, processes, and mechanisms; including but not limited to PM software, reporting, communication/collaboration tools, documentation, templates, and customer-facing training

· Develop and maintain data design documentation

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional or military experience

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling

  • Experience with AWS technologies

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
