We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Director of Accounting based in Arlington, Virginia. The role is primarily focused on managing joint venture accounting of sustainable energy projects and their related investment funds. As a part of our team, you will be instrumental in optimizing processes, building relationships and overseeing third-party accountants. This role will be pivotal in our continued growth and success within the solar energy and energy storage industry.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the fund accounting process for all Joint Venture (JV) funds containing fully built out solar projects.

• Supervise relationships with our outsourced accountants, who currently prepare the accounting for multiple funds and completed projects.

• Develop and implement processes and procedures related to our JV portfolio.

• Collaborate with management to build out the team, stop outsourcing additional funds, and begin internalizing fund accounting.

• Review balance sheet reconciliations and monthly JV fund financials, providing review comments to internal or third-party accountants.

• Import external trial balances and work to onboard third-party accounting into our consolidated ERP.

• Train and supervise accounting team members.

• Foster relationships with staff, suppliers, and vendors.

• Utilize accounting software systems, ADP - Financial Services, BlackLine, Concur, CRM, and other accounting functions.

• Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) and perform auditing.

• Manage budget processes, joint ventures, clean energy, financial reporting, and oil & gas - joint venture reporting.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role or in the field of accounting.

• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems.

• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services, BlackLine, Concur, and CRM is required.

• Comprehensive understanding of accounting functions including but not limited to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Experience in auditing is necessary.

• Knowledge of budget processes is expected.

• Experience in Joint Ventures and Clean Energy sectors would be advantageous.

• Proficiency in Financial Reporting is a must.
