Amazon Senior Technical Program Manager - Security Guardian, Supply Chain Operations in Arlington, Virginia

Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

In this role, you will be part of the team that spearheads supply chain optimization and enablement projects. This is a high-judgment role, where you will serve as the primary liaison with security teams to ensure our operational processes and software applications meet Amazon’s high security bar. You must be able to translate customer and regulatory requirements into actionable deliverables, determine what is a true security requirement versus a nice-to-have, and understand how to find the balance between cybersecurity and business objectives. As a technical program manager, you will also be focused on architecting system designs and solutions to improve operations across the supply chain.

The ideal candidate is a leader that can think and communicate strategically while also executing tactical actions. On one hand, you will directly interact with senior leaders and must be fluent in executive communication to gain support for new initiatives and obtain consensus with AWS customers. On the other hand, you will also be responsible for delivering on your initiatives, and must have both excellent interpersonal and writing skills to work across myriad teams in the supply chain, security, and legal organizations to deliver results in an ambiguous operating environment. It will be your responsibility to ensure the supply chain delivers on our security and risk management commitments to our customers, as well as make sure our systems are designed to enable region build and operational teams to get the infrastructure hardware they need when they need it.

This role is located in the HQ2 campus in Arlington, VA, in order to support US and EMEA operations. The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is preferred, but not required.

Key job responsibilities

  • Driving consensus for acceptable levels for risks and best practices across the supply chain and influencing where no formal reporting structures exist

  • Articulating in writing (actual papers, not slides) key issues and strategic initiatives for senior leadership

  • Leading cross-functional technical implementation efforts to integrate and improve supply chain systems

  • Creating plans that have objective, measurable success criteria and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences at various organizational levels

  • Acting as a thought and business leader in the field of cybersecurity, supply chain risk management, and supply chain operations

A day in the life

Our job is to let ops focus on ops. The larger organization has teams performing manufacturing, logistics, and reverse/recycling operations, and we take on the tough projects that would otherwise distract those teams from delivering operational excellence.

Some examples:

  • Spearheading new cross-functional services and capabilities

  • Representing supply chain operations during security engagements

  • Working with other organizations to address/mitigate supply chain risk

  • Otherwise connecting the dots across a complex, global supply chain
