Amazon Sr. Technical Program Manager, NASC Engineering in Arlington, Virginia

Looking for your next challenge? North America Sort Centers (NASC) are experiencing growth and looking for a skilled, highly motivated Technical Program Manager to join the NASC Engineering Team. The Sort Center network is the critical Middle-Mile solution in the Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) group, linking Fulfillment Centers to the Last Mile. The experience of our customers is dependent on our ability to efficiently execute volume flow through the middle-mile network.

Key job responsibilities

• Work with key stakeholders to develop a strategy and roadmap that provides compelling capabilities and helps meet our business goals.

• Develop and implement standard operating procedures, performance metrics, and feedback mechanisms

• Own complex planning, resource balancing, and financial modeling for initiatives and programs

• Responsible for the overall development lifecycle of complex projects spanning multiple teams.

• Establish KPIs to track impact of programs, including cost savings, deployment efficiency, and scalability

• Prioritize actions across stakeholders, develop a clear RACI to drive accountability, and ensure focus on the highest value activities

• Partner with leaders and engineers in the NASC Engr organization to deliver new and innovative products to the NASC network

• Work with stakeholder teams to determine the appropriate escalation, review process, and resolution for delivery blockers

Provide requirements and “voice of the customer” feedback to development and support teams

About the team

NASC Engineering’s Product, Analytics and Simulation Team’s sole objective is to develop tools for under the roof simulation and optimization, supporting the needs of our internal and external stakeholders. We develop products and tools to evaluate what-if design and operations scenarios for new and existing sort centers to understand their robustness, stability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. We conceptualize new data science solutions, using optimization and machine learning platforms, to analyze new and existing process, identify and reduce non-value added steps, and increase overall performance and rate. We work by interfacing with various functional teams to test and pilot new hardware/software solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
