IBM Capex/Opex Business Operations Intern in Armonk, New York

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are now accepting applications for students to become a Capex/Opex Business Operations Professional Intern in 2025. Students with varying backgrounds and professional interests and curiosities are encouraged to apply for this unique paid internship experience.

You will be part of the Global Real Estate team. As a Capex/Opex Business Operations Intern you will collaborate with several Global Real Estate teams including Design & Construction, Facilities Management, Strategy & Transactions, Head of Real Estate and Portfolio Leads of Northeast-NY region, Finance, etc. In your role you will be supported by mentors and coaches who will encourage you to challenge the norm, investigate ideas outside of your role, and come up with creative solutions resulting in ground-breaking impact for the wider business, other business units, & their customers. This position is IBM US office-based at the following location: Armonk, NY.

Your responsibilities:

  • Supporting the internal continuation of business operations.

  • Supporting development of financial reports and presentations.

  • Tracking capital spending against plan and provide reporting to monitor Geo performance.

  • Championing and supporting critical projects, such as business process improvement, budgeting and best practices initiatives, or procurement processes. Collaborate, leverage or create standardized processes or frameworks, and display strong teamwork and leadership skills.

  • Supporting the creation of business processes and integrating standard methodologies to deploy resources efficiently. You will also be responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to coordinate and deliver projects and initiatives, ensuring clarity and identifying/driving solutions to complex problems.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong data and analytical skills.

  • Project/Program management experience with a focus on business operations.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge of capital planning process and understanding of drivers of real estate capital consumption.

  • Organizational skills to efficiently bring together all stakeholders to achieve business goal of accurate capital planning and forecasting.

  • Experience with relevant communication applications such as Slack, Teams, etc.

  • Demonstrated accountability and adaptability with willingness to readily and voluntarily take ownership of highly challenging tasks and problems, even beyond initial scope of responsibility.

  • A passion for innovative ideas, coupled with the ability to understand and assimilate different points of view.

  • Effective interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and work with individuals, strengthening relationships to achieve win-win solutions.

Location StatementSupplemental 1 employees may be eligible for up to 8 paid holidays, minimum of 56 hours paid sick time and the IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan. IBM offers paid family medical leave and disability benefits to eligible employees where required by applicable law. The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year. This position was posted on the date cited in the key job details section and is anticipated to remain posted for 21 days from this date or less if not needed to fill the role.
