POSITION SUMMARY: The Electrical Apprentice supports the Journeyman and/or Master Electricians while working towards licensure as an electrician. This involves performing the work as necessary including assembling, installing, testing and inspecting electrical equipment. This position involves identifying safety risks and using the right precautions to eliminate the risks. The right candidate should be comfortable and knowledgeable with hand tools needed for tasks such as installing and modifying cable trays. It is important that this person has color vision, as it is imperative to identify different types, gauges, and color of cables and wires. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent from an accredited institution required.

  • First year Electrical Apprentice experience required and must be able to provide documented hours (4000 logged and signed hours).

  • Basic ability to read blue prints and schematics to determine the scope of work locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.

  • Experience with running and troubleshooting heat trace is a plus.

  • Basic electrical theory knowledge required such as ohms law is required.

  • Ability to install and modify cable tray and conduit using hand tools and power tools.

  • General ability to bend and cut conduit using hand saws, hand tube bending equipment as well as power and hydraulic cutting and tube bending devices.

  • Must be proficient in cable pulling methods used to run cable through specified pathways.

  • Able to terminate both High and low voltage equipment and cable/wiring.

  • Possesses mechanical and electrical knowledge of components related to the electrical industry.

  • Be able to identify different types, gauges, and color of cables and wires.

  • Knowledge of oil field drill sites and the necessary electrical requirements common to such locations preferred.

  • Experience working in pure industrial facilities, power plants, manufacturing operations, or similar sites preferred.

  • Experience with process automation controls and equipment like those utilized by the company currently preferred.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installation of conduit cable tray and heat trace with limited supervision.

  • Use tools such as but not limited to ohm meters, multi-meters, and terminating devices.

  • Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.

  • Install, modify, and fabricate cable tray as necessary according specifications.

  • Terminate wires and cable to electrical equipment such as but not limited to breakers, control panels and distribution systems.

  • Basic troubleshooting knowledge required.

  • Inspect electrical equipment and components to identify hazards and to ensure the equipment is in good operational condition.

  • Setup and maintain temporary power systems.

  • Install and maintain grounding systems for all equipment and structures.

  • Able to illustrate knowledge and experience of working with a lock out tag out system.

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for assisting in callout on emergency outages or problems.

  • Must be able and willing to train lower level employees.

  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle (includes, trailer and heavy loads).

  • Keep accurate records of all hours logged, inventory parts used, and services performed.

  • Provide excellent service to customers.

  • Daily completion of CSR.

  • Maintain professional behavior and proper communication with internal and external contacts, including company employees, customers, and outside vendors.

  • Effectively manage time, follow directions and complete work within specified time.

  • Successfully complete requested training classes and maintain all necessary safety certificates.

  • Maintain a sound understanding of all industry safety norms and regulations.

  • Properly utilize and care for and secure all company tools, supplies, and vehicles.

  • Efficiently follow orders from Management.

  • Checks and responds to all company communications on all scheduled workdays, including voice mail, emails, and text messages. Makes sure that old voice mails are cleared regularly so that the mailbox does not get full.

  • Complies with all applicable Company safety requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Must be willing to work in extreme weather conditions.

  • Must be willing to follow instruction from supervisor.

  • Able to make it to work on time and work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed with limited notification.

  • Responsible for obtaining E-Certs or proper licensing.

  • Ability to travel to other work sites and remote locations as necessary. May require occasional travel by air or vehicle to out of state locations when requested by Company.

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and record allowing for insurance coverage.

  • Must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 60 lbs.
