City Of Arvada Civil Engineer I, II, Or III - Development Reiew in Arvada, Colorado

Position Purpose The City of Arvada promotes Equal Pay for Equal Work. Starting salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The range listed reflects the entire range and typical placement is entry to mid range.

Responsible for the review and monitoring of privately constructed improvements within the public right-of-way and easements. May also be responsible for the design and contract administration of routine projects related to the city's infrastructure.

Salary reflected in posting is for civil engineer II. Below is the total salary range for each level. Placement into appropriate level will depend on licenses and years of experience. Please refer to minimum qualifications below.

Placement into a Civil Engineer I, II, or III will be dependent on years of experience and certifications. Please upload certifications into attachments upon application.

Civil Engineer I - $78.912- $107,900 Civil Engineer II - $87, 198- $119,229 Civil Engineer III - $96,353- $131,748

Essential Functions / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Reviews civil engineering plans and technical reports submitted by others. Recommends changes for reasonableness to conform to the city's Engineering Code of Standards and Specifications for the Design and Construction of Public Improvements, applicable master plans, and other regulations.

Performs professional duties related to the planning, directing, organizing, implementing, and coordinating of programs and activities associated with engineering. Review developments, meet with developers, and direct the appropriate study of development impacts.

Coordinates approvals and permitting for residential and commercial developments and construction in the public right-of-way.

Enforces the city's Engineering Code of Standards and Specifications for the Design and Construction of Public Improvements.

Reviews and coordinates routine programs and projects with governmental agencies, districts, landowners, contractors, and consultants.

Analyzes alternative solutions to projects to determine the most adequate and cost effective solution.

Communicates and interacts with a variety of interests including but not limited to: elected officials, government and quasi-government representatives, districts, landholders, developers, citizens and others as needed to perform the duties and functions of the position.

Responds to questions for citizens or developers either in person or over the telephone. Provides technical support to other staff members, contractors, developers, and the public. Researches files and/or maps for citizens and developers. Coordinates any follow-up to concerns with appropriate parties.

Demonstrates a respectful attitude towards customers and coworkers that promotes teamwork, open communication, and effective customer service.

Acts with the customer in mind, responds to requests promptly and provides effective services or solutions for customers.

Exercises appropriate level of initiative and judgment to make decisions within the scope of assigned authority.

Collaborates with city staff across multiple departments to ensure the developments meet engineering standards while meeting the needs of the community.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Basic to solid knowledge of principles and practices of engineering, including standards, policies, and technical issues.

Basic to solid knowledge of public works practices and procedures, planning, and administration.

Knowledge and ability to apply independent evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering techniques.

Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city and the development commun ty in a positive and cooperative manner.
