Position Summary:

Technology Center Sr. Electrical Engineering Technician’s role is to support engineering prototype, alpha, beta, pre-pilot, pilot unit builds and other related tasks as required to support NPD and sustaining engineering projects. This support includes electrical, mechanical and refrigeration system troubleshooting and fabricating. Additionally, experience is required for Soldering of PCBs, wiring harness assemblies and instrumenting units with thermocouples, transducers and data capturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build of test fixtures (refrigeration, mechanical, reliability and electrical).Perform refrigeration, mechanical, reliability and electrical testing as per documented test procedures.

  • Electrical wiring of prototype systems. Building/reworking wire harness assemblies and PCB rework. (through hole and surface mount)

  • Instrumentation of prototype units, systems and fixtures including but not limited to thermocouples, transducers, force gauges, calipers etc.

  • Work closely with engineering, production and technology center team members to ensure accurate, efficient and timely execution of required prototyping, fabrication and testing work and drive tasked work to completion

  • Conduct product evaluation testing and troubleshooting at system, subsystem and component level

  • Help conduct and setup agency tests e.g. UL, CE, CSA etc Proficiency in the use of soldering equipment, oscilloscopes, meters, and data acquisition systems.

  • Automation of processes including data acquisition, data reporting and testing procedures

  • Experience implementing compressors, actuators, fans, relays, switches, harness design, and related components

  • Understanding of temperature measurement circuits and technologies as well as electrical and mechanical theory.

Other Job Requirements:

  • Person must have strong interpersonal skills and can work well in a dynamic teamwork environment

  • Must have 5 plus years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong knowledge base in electronics, electrical wiring and PCB rework

  • High levels of self-discipline, drive, and a proven ability work well in a cross functional team environment

  • Willingness and ability to work with issues on factory floor and have proven experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred

  • Proven ability to work on multiple tasks concomitantly (Multitasking)

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • AS or higher in the related fields or equivalent work experience.

  • 4-5 years of experience in electrical/electronic technologies

  • Experience with lab testing equipment and systems is a plus

  • Strong computer skills preferred (MS Office and Fluke testing software)
