Job Details Level Experienced Job Location The Good Shepherd - Ashland, OH Position Type Full Time Education Level 2 Year Degree   Travel Percentage None Job Shift Day Job Category Health Care Director of Life Enrichment GENERAL SUMMARY: Directing the development, implementation, supervision, and ongoing evaluation of the life enrichment program. Completes or delegates the completion of the activities component of the comprehensive assessment. Contributes to, directs, or delegates the contribution to the comprehensive care plan goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans and develops individual and group programs that stimulate the residents' physical and mental abilities. Implement, plan, and schedule activities & events for residents. Functions as the Volunteer Coordinator and manages volunteer activities within the Program area. Oversees necessary documentation (e.g., resident activity interest surveys, attendance records, resident assessments, MDS, etc.) is properly recorded. Attends in-service training and education sessions. Provides and/or ensures adequate transportation to external seasonal and community events. May attend care conferences/family meetings. Provide transportation with company bus for residents to and from activities. Perform all other duties as assigned. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS SUPERVISES: Life Enrichment Assistants and Volunteers. EDUCATION: Must have one of the following: (1) Has two years of experience in a social or recreational program within five years preceding the date of hire, one year of which was full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting; (2) Is licensed as an occupational therapist under Chapter 4755. of the Revised Code; (3) Is licensed as an occupational therapy assistant under Chapter 4755. of the Revised Code; (4) Is certified by a nationally recognized accrediting body as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional; or (5) Has successfully completed training covering activities programming from a technical or vocational school, college, university, or other educational institution, and has one year of experience in recreational or activities services. Training may also be provided by an out-of-state provider certified in the state in which the provider is located to offer technical or vocational programs or to offer degrees and college credits. For individuals hired after April 18, 2002, the minimum amount of training needed to meet this requirement shall be ninety hours. EXPERIENCE: Position requires 2 years' experience in a social or recreational program within the previous 10 years, 1 of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; or is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or has completed a training course approved by the state. SKILLS & ABILITIES: Strong communication skills. Ability to perform activities on a one-to-one or team-building basis. Ability to organize and motivate groups. Craft skills. Ability to work well with the elderly and the infirm. Conflict resolution. Proficient Computer skills. Experience with HER system Must have a valid Ohio driver's license, provide proof of current automobile insurance, and have a good driving record. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Flexibility in managing schedule including weekends and evening hours.
