Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support for all aspects of the product development process with specific focus on designing, drafting and laboratory product testing.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize AutoCAD software to create 2D/3D window/door drawings on the computer.

  • Implement basic product developments and maintain and update drawing on a regular basis.

  • Prepare final drawings that incorporate dimensional checking, required materials, parts relationship, and visualization of entire project.

  • Utilizes knowledge of equipment and fabrication processes to assist in creating advanced level drawings.

  • Prepares and driver charts for representation of statistical data.

  • Research and analysis of the competitor products based on Design Operation manager and Design Engineer advise.

  • Work closely with Marketing, Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing to define the scope of product targets in the implementation of the projects.

  • Coordinate and participate in installing unit or system to be tested in test fixtures, connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical, or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, and indicating instruments

  • Confer with engineering personal to resolve the problems relating to product design, fabrication, and specifications, and to review test plans such as types and cycles of tests, conditions under which tests are to be conducted, and duration of tests.

  • Monitor controls and instruments and record test data for engineer's use.

  • Fabricates precision parts for test apparatus or interpret specifications for workers fabricating parts.

  • Activates controls to apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power and subject test item to successive steps in test cycle.

  • Examines parts for conformance with dimensional specifications.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in CAD or mechanical engineering, plus 1 - 3 years of CAD experience in the commercial construction or building facade industry (curtain wall, storefront, window); or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Industry experience, preferred

  • A highly motivated, team player that is willing to learn and develop knowledge and skills.

  • Able to review, interpret and explain curtain wall, storefront, or related facade shop drawing, architectural and structural drawings is preferred.

  • Experience with 3D Auto CAD software skill and fabrication drawings background is preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

  • Be vigilant about safety
