The Coca-Cola Company Deputy Director - Treasury Accounting in Atlanta, Georgia

Position Overview: Director role in the Treasury Accounting Group. This group is responsible for leading the Global financial close process for derivative and hedging items, long-term debt, and commodities as well as forecasting Treasury results and stewardship of Treasury Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of the Treasury Accounting close. Directing team members and coordinating with many Financial Services and Genpact leaders (full end to end leadership of Treasury Management Systems)

  • Lead Treasury P&L variance analysis and deliver insights to leaders of Controller’s Group, Corporate Performance Management, and Corporate Treasury.

  • Lead team member prepared footnote information used in external financial reporting communications (Earnings Release, 10-K, 10-Q) for Derivatives, Financial Instruments, Debt, and Investments.

  • Collaborate closely with Corporate Treasury, Financial Services, Global Financial Reporting, & Accounting Research Managers to ensure continuous improvement of the closing process

  • Review complex treasury items and recommend accounting treatment to senior leaders of the Controller’s Group.

  • Support Global Financial Reporting Team by preparing ad-hoc analysis that delivers business insights re: hedging and investment results.

  • Own the design, strategy, change management, and processes of global Treasury Management System (ownership and accountability of the process and team executing it). Includes coordinating with Global IT.

  • Consult with Corporate Tax ensuring proper treatment of derivatives and hedging items.

  • Responsible for the Internal Control environment including direct communication with Internal and External Audit Managers. Responsible for the development and execution of management action plans to remediate any issues.

  • Team leadership and development activities. While this position will have people management responsibilities, organizationally this role manages all accounting associates involved in the treasury close process

  • Project leadership of key Treasury initiatives including cross-functional teams within and outside the Accounting teams.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree; CPA/MBA preferred.

Related Work Experience: 8+ years of work experience in accounting.

Functional Skills:

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles: knowledge of U.S. and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Transaction/Business Knowledge: ability to quickly grasp financial risk management and capital market activities.

  • Financial Analysis: the ability to analyze financial data (e.g., validity of data, scenario analysis, etc) This includes creating spreadsheets, explaining variances, identifying issues, and making appropriate recommendations.

  • Financial Systems: Knowledge of general ledger and financial reporting applications.

  • Business Partnering: the ability to identify key business insights and effectively communicate findings to the appropriate stakeholders.
