Position Title: Director of Application Development and Support

Department: Information Technology

Reports To: Senior Director of IT

Location: Remote USA

Position Summary:

The Director of Application Development and Support is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end development, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise applications. This role ensures that applications are developed in alignment with business goals, using the latest technologies and best practices. Additionally, the Director will lead the support teams to ensure ongoing maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of applications, providing a seamless experience for end-users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the overall strategy for application development and support, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the application landscape.

  • Application Development:

  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing maintenance.

  • Ensure best practices in software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and testing.

  • Manage the selection and implementation of development tools, frameworks, and platforms.

  • Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of developers, engineers, and support specialists.

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging continuous learning and development.

  • Manage resource allocation, ensuring that projects are staffed appropriately and delivered on time and within budget.

  • Application Support:

  • Oversee the support and maintenance of all enterprise applications, ensuring high availability and reliability.

  • Develop and implement processes for incident management, problem resolution, and change management.

  • Monitor application performance and implement optimizations to improve user experience and system efficiency.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with business units to understand their application needs and provide technical solutions that meet those needs.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and issues.

  • Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the budget for application development and support, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

  • Evaluate and negotiate with vendors for software, tools, and services as needed.

  • Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure that all applications comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and security best practices.

  • Implement and maintain secure coding practices to protect sensitive data and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in application development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong experience with software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale application projects from concept to completion.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with budget management and vendor negotiations.

  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in application development and support.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, or Pega

  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, ScrumMaster) or IT service management (e.g., ITIL).

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to meet deadlines or resolve critical issues.

  • Some travel may be required.

Pay Transparency Laws in some locations require disclosure of compensation-related information. For this position, actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive. In addition, Conduent provides a variety of benefits to employees including health insurance coverage, voluntary dental and vision programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) or vacation or sick time. The estimated salary range for this role is $154500 - $190000.
