JOB SUMMARY

Employment Support Specialist works with Workforce Resources team and is responsible for conducting work readiness training and providing job coaching to individuals living with disabilities. Their role involves assisting individuals in developing essential skills, preparing for employment, and supporting their successful integration into competitive integrated employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct work readiness training sessions for individuals with disabilities, focusing on developing job-specific skills, workplace etiquette, and professional behavior.

Provide personalized job coaching and support to participants, assisting them in identifying their strengths, interests, and employment goals.

Collaborate with participants to create individualized employment plans, setting achievable objectives and milestones.

Assist participants in conducting job searches, including resume preparation, job application submission, and interview techniques.

Collaborate with employers and community organizations to identify potential job opportunities and facilitate job placements for participants.

Provide ongoing support and guidance to participants in their workplace, addressing any challenges or concerns that arise.

Monitor participants' progress and maintain accurate documentation of their employment-related activities and outcomes.

Coordinate with other support services, such as counselors, healthcare professionals, and social workers, to ensure holistic support for participants.

Provide Long Term Supportive Services once a participant has met the objectives of the work plan.

Stay updated on current employment trends, disability rights, and relevant legislation to provide accurate and informed guidance to participants.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate degree in social sciences or a similar related field with three (3) years experience

Experience in working with people with disabilities

Previous working experience as a trainer and/or Job Coach for at least One (1) year.

A valid driver's license, a good driving record, and proof of current auto insurance a must.

Background checks will be performed.

PERFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree preferred

Five (5) years experience working in a similar role with individuals living with developmental disabilities.

Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Knowledge of GVRA, DBHDD, CARF, and any other regulatory and licensure standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift a maximum of 35 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must possess the physical capabilities to perform the following: standing, walking, bending and sitting for extended periods.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY None required

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position with expectations of a minimum 40-hour work week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL Must be able to travel as needed to rovide services.
