Robert Half Litigation Attorney/Lawyer in Atlanta, Georgia

Description We are offering a contract for a permanent position as a Litigation Attorney/Lawyer in the government sector, located in Atlanta, Georgia. This role involves providing legal counsel and advice on environmental matters, supporting the legal needs of the state's largest water and wastewater utility, and delivering legal advice to the Atlanta City Council on legislation concerning environmental matters.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal counsel and advice on a variety of environmental matters, including but not limited to drinking water, wastewater, and storm, water treatment, and compliance

• Engage in solid and hazardous waste management discussions and decision-making processes

• Offer legal counsel on sustainability, environmental nuisances, contamination, and clean-ups

• Support the Department of Watershed Management with their legal needs and requirements

• Deliver legal advice to the Atlanta City Council on legislation concerning environmental matters and other City Departments as required

• Assist the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, with their legal needs

• Support the City’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience with their legal requirements

• Handle legal matters related to billing support and appeals, collections, contracts, real estate, and land use. Requirements • Must be a Licensed Attorney with a valid license to practice law in the jurisdiction of employment.

• Demonstrable experience dealing with municipalities and understanding their legal structures and regulations.

• Proficiency in interpreting and advising on local ordinances, ensuring compliance within the government body.

• Proven track record of representing government bodies effectively in various types of litigation.

• Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with a focus on resolving disputes in a manner that benefits the government entity.

• Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively within a team, as well as independently when required.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgments based on legal principles and precedents.

• Proficient in drafting and reviewing legal documents including but not limited to briefs, pleadings, appeals, and contracts.

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to government legal affairs.

• Familiarity with government regulations and laws, with the ability to advise on changes and updates as necessary.

• High degree of professionalism, demonstrating ethical behavior in all legal proceedings and interactions.

• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines concurrently.
