Logistics Planner - Atlanta, GA
The opportunity:
We are seeking a Logistics Planner who will bring creative solutions and new ideas to existing processes and procedures. The ideal person will provide effective coordination and execution of inbound and outbound freight movements for external customers, internal customers, and supplier shipments. This position will travel up to 5% and require occasional night and weekend work.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
\u2022 Responsible for the daily execution of inbound/outbound shipments for selected facilities and suppliers
\u2022 Responsible for achieving all fiscal year financial and performance goals and objectives
\u2022 Manage transportation events to ensure manufacturing, supplier, and customer satisfaction
\u2022 Responsible for weekly service metric review for selected facilities; including cost, on-time performance, route guide compliance, carrier capacity, spot shipment performance, etc.
\u2022 Ensure carrier receipt and response of daily load tenders
\u2022 Perform daily outbound and inbound load tendering process
\u2022 Track loads and hold carriers accountable for on-time pick-up and delivery
\u2022 Communicate frequently with internal/external customers and carriers
\u2022 Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities
\u2022 Manage carrier trailer pools at selected facilities and suppliers
What you need to succeed:
\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree from a four-year college or university required
\u2022 Minimum of 2 years related work experience in Supply Chain
\u2022 Must possess industry knowledge and terminology, strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to analyze problem situations and make fact-based decisions quickly
\u2022 Proficient in Microsoft Office; expertise in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
\u2022 Strong problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and negotiation skills
\u2022 Ability to set priorities, achieve deadlines, and manage multiple tasks at the same time
\u2022 Accuracy and attention to detail
\u2022 Task-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
\u2022 Thorough understanding of transportation modes and solutions
\u2022 Familiarity with Routing and Scheduling software
\u2022 Transportation Management System experience required (Preferably, Oracle Transportation Management)
