WSP USA OV Office Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an OV Office Engineer for our Atlanta, GA Transportation team. The WSP Atlanta office serves clients from around the state on a wide variety of projects ranging from turn lanes and widening, roundabouts, intersection improvements and bridge replacements to urban interchange reconstructions and large design-build projects. The selected candidate will on GDOT projects on a regular basis, so experience with GDOT projects is beneficial. This position is an excellent opportunity to continue to enhance design and production skills and build relationships within WSP as well as with a large number of clients around the state.

Your Impact

  • Responsible for verifying all submittal content, distributing to designated Project Management Team members for review, and uploading all return documentation.

  • Formats, numbers, distributes, and tracks Project correspondence.

  • Oversees the daily administration, monitoring, and performance of contract compliance and document control.

  • Tracks and verifies Developer Submittal Obligations are being fulfilled.

  • Verifies accurate Project Records are being kept up to date and consistent with accepted quality procedures and verifies documents are distributed according to document management protocols and archived in appropriate document management system.

  • Supports final Project close-out effort and arching.

  • Performs daily reviews of work in place documentation including daily inspector reports, construction plans, specifications, and contract quality requirements.

  • Assists the Construction OV Manager with design and construction activity tracking, verification of work in place, claims and change order tracking, and the schedule review and revision process.

  • Maintains logs and financial records in the project information system.

  • Prepares periodic reports summarizing progress of design and construction activities for higher level management and clients.

  • Performs various engineering and design assignments requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories within Civil Engineering.

  • Assists in the preparation and issuance of designs, specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents for road/highway projects.

  • Reviews contractor submittals for compliance with contract documents and prepares appropriate response.

  • Attends weekly job meetings with the contractor to reconcile project progress and verify work in place.

  • Attends monthly meetings with the owner to update project progress and value of work in place.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or or equivalent experience.

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in transportation and infrastructure projects.

  • Should exercise independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to the office aspects of the project.

  • Should be familiar with GDOT’s Procedures including the Construction Manual covering the project related duties as stated above and be proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform these duties.

  • Proficient in e-Builder®, Assure-It.
