The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine is hiring a team member with project management experience to serve in two important roles to promote the research efforts of the Logan and Chahroudi laboratories. The team member will assist in managing research programs that include faculty members and trainees, with a special focus on managing NIH-funded multicenter projects for both laboratories. The roles will require 70% and 30% split time in the Logan and Chahroudi laboratories, respectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages administrative and research activities in support of a specialized program or research center.

  • Develops plans for program growth and development and serves as a liaison to various committees or organizations.

  • May oversee the planning, logistics and implementation of various special events such as lectures, seminars, conferences, or research projects.

  • Participates in developing and implementing various program related communications such as websites, publications, multimedia or video productions.

  • May hire and supervise administrative or research related staff.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

The team member is expected to perform the following specific activities:

  • Works with research coordinators and other study staff in the implementation of project aims, data management, and the coordination of team members assisting in project development.

  • Assist in writing grants, IRBs, progress reports, briefings, or other written material

  • Prepares and monitors research related budgets and monitors grant expenditures.

  • Oversees the planning, logistics and implementation of meetings between laboratory teams and their collaborators, including annual external advisory board meetings.

  • Assists in building and maintaining laboratory and project websites.

  • Administers research programs with facility in managing multiple projects and hiring and supervising research personnel.

  • Supervises staff by orienting, training and providing performance feedback.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in business or related field.

  • Five years of professional experience in a related field such as business administration, research, or information systems management.

  • Program or project management experience strongly preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A postgraduate/master’s degree or higher is preferred. Exceptional organizational and written/oral communication skills and attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, remain flexible and manage time effectively are desired.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
