We are currently seeking a Project Development & Engineering Manager. The Project Development & Engineering Manager reports directly to the Sr. Director, Project Execution. This position may be Remote or Based in our Atlanta Headquarters.
Accountabilities:
Directs and develops the Project Development & Engineering Team. Accountable for team success and failures. Coach and mentor team in hard and soft skills required for the team’s role.
Provide accurate and timely portfolio reporting to Sr. Director, Project Execution and other Altium leadership functions.
Leads the development of all Project Development deliverables inclusive of Scopes, Execution Plans, Cost Estimates, Critical Path Schedules, and justifications for all Capital Projects assigned to the Project Execution Department.
Ensures the Project Development & Engineering Team collaborates effectively with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Internal & External Customers, and other Cross-functional departments to deliver timely project deliverables that set Altium up for safe, successful vertical startups.
Executes Altium strategies, projects and specific activities to positively impact safety culture while employing improvements to reduce risk and improve safety.
Accountable for project technical design and performance
Develops and champions fit-for-purpose formal Standards and Specifications typically required for Capital Projects at Altium.
Develop the technical specifications required for each project, collaborating with Process Engineering and Automation departments when subject matter overlaps with those departments’ charters.
Develop designs for facility and production related systems while incorporating personnel safety objectives into the designs.
Evaluate the condition and performance of existing plant equipment and facilities.
Lead and participate in project and improvement teams.
Function as a change agent in the implementation of new technology and systems.
Prequalify vendors and contractors suitable for project requirements
Prepares appropriate Inquiry Packages for equipment, materials, goods, and/or services as required by Project Scope and Project Execution Plan, inclusive of creative contract language to incentivize vendors and contractors to deliver as promised when promised.
Solicit and evaluate vendor and contractor proposals. Conduct pre-bid meetings, bid clarification meetings and make purchase / contract recommendations to Project Managers.
Draft technical and performance portions of Purchase Orders and Contract documents
Accountable for Commissioning and Training Plans development for each Capital Project
When required, provide support during Installation, Qualification, and Startup phases of each Capital Project
Project Development & Engineering Team members may, at times, act as Project Manager for smaller projects whose Scope matches closely with member’s subject matter expertise. During those times, collaborate with the Director, Project Management to ensure team member delivers safe, vertical startup of those projects.
At times, the Project Development & Engineering Team may be called upon to provide technical counsel to plant and corporate personnel outside of any project activity. During these times, ensure the right counsel is provided timely while effectively managing Team’s overall priorities
Must have a proactive communication style to all cross functional groups and individuals within Altium, recognizing that communication is effective only when the sender and the receiver both own the responsibility for delivery of accurate and timely messages.
Full adoption of Altium’s Guiding Principles, demonstrating said adoption throughout day-to-day activities and decision making.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
Minimum of 10 years project management and/or project engineering, preferably in the blow molding industry.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to correctly prioritize tasks.
Experience working in a manufacturing plant environment.
Travel between 20-70% monthly
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience in team building skills
Innate ability to develop willing followers and lead others by influence
Demonstrated proficiency in use of Microsoft Project/Smartsheet scheduling software
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD use
