We are seeking a skilled Cloud Data Architect to design and develop our organization's data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and agile methodologies. They will be responsible for creating scalable and efficient data solutions using various programming languages and technologies; They will provide application, systems, or process design recommendations based on short and long-term technology organization strategy; Develop enterprise level application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features; Use a variety of platforms to provide automated systems applications; Provide guidance regarding the integration of applications across the business; Determine specifications, plan, design, and develop the most complex and business critical software solutions; Utilize appropriate software engineering processes-either individually or in concert with project team; Provide architectural strategy and direction for multiple diverse application functions on a variety of multi-platform systems in order to support the achievement of corporate business objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop application strategy in support of short and long-term business plans, as well as application implications and software development requirements.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in architecting modern data integration frameworks, highly scalable distributed systems using open source and emerging data architecture designs/patterns

  • Participate in the development of company business system architecture plans and review cost and feasibility of system requests while ensuring the plan supports the strategic needs of the company.

  • Enterprise scale expertise in data management best practices such as data integration, data security, data warehousing, data analytics, metadata management and data quality.

  • May develop programming and development standards and procedures as well as programming architectures for code reuse.

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of programming languages and designing, coding, testing etc.

  • Understand and consistently apply the attributes and processes of current application development methodologies.

  • Research and maintain knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business

  • Serve as a technical expert and critical technical resource

  • Typically lead complex projects and participate in larger initiatives. Solve complex technical and operational problems.

  • Act as a resource for teammates with less experience

  • May oversee workflow and provide coaching and training for a small team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience in development or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices.

  • Understanding of multiple disciplines/processes related to the position.

  • Experience applying and utilizing enterprise architecture standards.

  • Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function.

  • Ability to plan and manage projects.

  • Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices.

  • Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.

  • Advanced communications skills, including ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information.

  • In an Agile environment: Knowledge of Agile development and release practices. Experience supporting a team with application architecture in an Agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Experience defining technology standards for an organization

  • Experience with architecture frameworks, including design patterns, distributed applications, AWS Well-Architected Framework

  • Experience with big data platforms like Cloudera (CDH/CDP), AWS, EMR

  • Experience with AWS services like EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, Route 53, VPC, IAM

  • Experience with programming technologies, including Java, Python, Kafka, Spark

  • Experience with data technologies, including SQL, NoSQL, Big Data, R, and GraphQL

  • Build cloud native data platforms and capabilities that enable data analytics, reporting, model developments and machine learning

  • Manage and enhance cloud native data lakes and Data Warehouse platforms.

  • Create Proof of Concepts (POCs) to illustrate how cutting-edge technologies can be incorporated and enhance Client's technology offerings

  • In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices.

  • Understanding of multiple disciplines/processes related to the position.

  • Experience applying and utilizing enterprise architecture standards.

  • 6+ years of experience working with various database technologies e.g. SQL Server

  • 6+ years hands-on experience with ETL (SSIS, SSRS), source code control (i.e. TFS or GIT)) and Data Management tools

  • 4+ years of experience working with large data sets, and optimizing data processes

  • 4+ years of experience with Python and/or data visualization/exploration tools

  • 2+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, and Cloud technologies preferably AWS

  • Proficient in SQL/SAS for querying data and data manipulation/transformation

  • Expertise in creating schemas and writing efficient SQL queries on a relational database.

  • Knowledge of one or more of technologies such as: JEE, JAVA Beans, JavaScript, Web Services, SOAP Mobile, WebSphere technologies, Microsoft Technologies such as NET (e.g., VB .Net, C#, or C++, ASP.Net), or COBOL/Mainframe legacy EIS Job Inventory 15 modernization tools and integration techniques including COBOL, WSED, CICS, Assembler, and JCL, XML. Database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 and proficiency in PL/SQL.

  • Solid working knowledge of UML and design tools.

  • Banking or financial services experience.

  • Strong business understanding to be able to bridge technical and business priorities.

  • Experience with MS Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Automate Desktop, Power BI, SharePoint)
