Working within the Mailchimp Design Department means designing and tackling customer experience opportunities head-on. We help small businesses thrive and grow as fast as possible. We’re a diverse group of passionate designers and we’re looking for a customer obsessed Senior Design Program Manager to partner with us and take our products, strategy, and process to the next level. You’ll bring all the critical pieces together – customer needs, strategy, business goals, program management, design, execution, and technology – to produce amazing experiences across platforms.

This hybrid role is based in Atlanta, GA, where you’ll join a small, yet mighty Design Ops team for Mailchimp's Design department. We are dedicated to creating a thriving and creative community for Intuit designers to deliver their best work. Come join our team!

What you'll bring

  • Min 7+ years of production/project management/program management experience within Design

  • Passion for design thinking, customer-driven innovation, and creating emotionally engaging experiences

  • Ability to confidently manage ambiguity—track record of creative problem solving that demonstrates flexibility

  • Proven track record of delivery and execution of medium-to-large scale projects

  • Knack for bringing order to complex programs and for scoping and prioritizing projects, identifying risks and dependencies, defining schedules

  • Deep experience shipping product and/or working with product design teams and an understanding of how to integrate process with creative minds and to influence cross-functional partners

  • Desire to help mentor and coach early career design

  • Thorough understanding of the creative development processes and product development life cycle.

  • Strong experience with Agile development and methodologies and related software and tools to keep organized.

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent

How you will lead

  • Partner closely with the Sr. Design Directors to lead a 100+ person design department spanning our major product capabilities. You’ll be a critical thought partner on design strategy, and you’ll help lead on everything from senior leadership workshops and design sprints to cross-product planning and operations.

  • Effectively lead Design and Product to work seamlessly together while upskilling their talent. You’ll partner with Design Ops leadership to maintain consistency in work streams across the product capabilities and ensure cross-functional alignment and development.

  • Empower the design team to do their best work and maximize productivity by managing design requirements/initiatives and operational You identify and solve for team needs with regards to process, tools, documentation, asset management, etc.

  • Lead the Design team in process and prioritization to align the delivery of high-quality design work to the company’s business objectives.

  • Partner with a design lead and team to define a sustainable design process for a recently launched product offering and maintain it as they scale. Success for this partnership will be demonstrated with a strong dynamic across this partnership, with clear definitions of ownership as well as shared goals.

  • Build strong relationships and act as a bridge between the Design team and our cross-functional partners, connecting all groups and making sure inter-dependencies are understood and planned for effectively. You are also a critical point of contact for key business partners, other leaders and outside agencies.

  • Partner with all key design managers to define key product life cycle decision-making, including: requirements gathering, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of teams and approval processes. You define and establish timelines and tasks to manage large and small projects through all phases of implementation.

  • Drive engagement of the full team through team culture, design inspiration, and passion for our customers.

  • Lead or contribute to higher level design ops initiatives to help create a stronger more unified Design org across all of Mailchimp and Intuit.
