Home Depot Senior Software Engineer, Reliability Engineer (Remote) in Atlanta, Georgia

Position Purpose:

The Senior Software Reliability Engineer will be responsible for not only supporting our Direct Fulfillment Center, Regional Distribution Center, and Stocking Flow Center environments, but developing the solutions, processes, and enhancements needed to increase site reliability and stability. The Senior Software Engineer is knowledgeable of many areas of Supply Chain and will further enhance our ability to react to our customer's needs, ensuring the quality of Development team deployments, and establishing meaningful observability to our Supply Chain fleet. In addition, Sr. Software Engineers may be involved in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring as well as mentoring less experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 10% Supports and Enables - Helps grow junior engineers by providing guidance on modern software development frameworks, and leading technical discussions

Travel Requirements:

  • No travel required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of working with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Ruby, or shell scripting)

  • 2+ years of Linux and/or Windows systems administration.

  • Experienced exposure with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code)

  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.)

  • Analyzing performance metrics and trends to proactively identify and resolve potential site issues before they become issues, or as an investigative tool to determine root cause to incidents.

  • Experience in designing systems for High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Performance, Efficiency, and Security

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in SLO/SLA/SLI, and 4 Golden Signals

  • Knowledge and experience in a blameless culture of conducting and leading postmortem exercises and completing action items.

  • The ability to work in diverse environments with engineers of all levels to achieve mutual success.

  • Communication and soft skills required to interact with other teams to collaborate effectively on mutual objectives and tracking progress.

  • Understanding of Agile, Scrum, DevOps, frameworks and tools (Miro, Jira, Confluence)

  • Experience with supporting business critical production systems.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • The ability to support a 24/7 environment through on-call pager rotations with team members.
