Kaiser Permanente Senior Strategy consultant in Atlanta, Georgia

The Strategic Market Planning (SMP) team is a part of the broader Strategy Hub in KP Georgia. The SMP team works closely with senior Health Plan leadership to facilitate the development and execution of strategic thinking, planning, and action to support sustainable membership growth in Georgia. The SMP team partners with internal stakeholders to evaluate regional sales data and market trends to develop actionable insights and identify opportunities to grow the Georgia market. The Senior Strategy Consultant will support the team in defining and executing the identified initiatives and will also effectively apply strategic facilitation, strategy frameworks, business case development, execution, project management, and data analysis methodologies to complete the work. The Senior Strategy Consultant will bring to the work a broad understanding of strategy development to support leaders by setting the internal and external context, developing strategic options, and aligning and connecting work across the organization. Much of the work is highly visible, sensitive, and multi-faceted. This is also a key role within the annual strategic planning process, working with leaders in care delivery, health plan, communications, HR, IT, finance, and more.

Job Summary:

In concert with Strategy leaders, works closely with senior Health Plan and Medical Group leadership, managers and staff to facilitate Strategic Plan development and execution and drive strategic thinking, planning and action. The Senior Strategy Consultant leads the definition and execution of KPGA strategic priorities by partnering with stakeholders to generate high-value solutions and sustainable results. The Senior Strategy Consultant supports internal clients by effectively applying strategic facilitation, execution, project management, and process improvement methodologies and identifying and applying appropriate best practices from within and outside of KP. The Sr Strategy Consultant will bring to the work a broad understanding of strategy development to support leaders by setting the internal and external context, developing strategic options, and aligning and connecting work across the organization. Much of the work is highly visible, sensitive, and multi-faceted. This is also a key role within the annual strategic planning process, working with leaders in care delivery, health plan, communications, HR, IT, finance and more.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads, researches, frames and creates compelling and clear content on strategic options. Prepares for and facilitates strategic discussions and decision making. Integrates and synthesizes qualitative and quantitative information about the healthcare market environment, including broad consumer, provider, industry, and competitive trends. This may include industry scanning, trend tracking, company profiling and benchmarking, as well as coordinating with subject matter experts across the organization, to gather and analyze internal data and relevant insights.

  • Leads from inception to completion critical projects and initiatives aimed at achieving the Regions Strategic Objectives. Consults for executives, senior leaders and other stakeholders to ensure fulfillment of strategic goals by identifying gaps and developing solutions. Leads projects and programs, including defining goals, measurements, deliverables, key milestones and critical path for projects containing multiple work streams.

  • Effectively sees how multiple projects connect and leverages those synergies to add the most value to KP. Identifies project barriers / constraints / risks and ensure risks & constraints are mitigated. Uses skills in influence and navigation to foster alignment, support, and action. Uses existing project methodologies to execute projects. Effectively applies process improvement.

  • Manages activities to ensure the development, communication, execution and refinement of the Regions strategic plan. Advances organizational alignment around the Strategic Plan, partnering with Communications, Operations, and other core functions. Supports Strategy and other Health Plan and Medical Group leaders timely and high-quality completion of the annual Strategic Plan Review with Program Office.

  • Develops and delivers written and verbal presentations, briefings, and other communications in a compelling, visually driven, concise and informative manner.

  • Supports Strategy team and participates in various ad hoc projects on an as needed basis. Other duties as assigned.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

  • Minimum six (6) years of progressive experience in strategic planning, strategy facilitation and/or execution of large-scope strategic projects OR Masters degree and minimum two (2) years of experience.

    Education

  • Bachelors degree.

    Additional Requirements:

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication and presentation skills; communicates effectively with all levels of leadership, staff and physicians.

  • Proven experience developing / leading / facilitating strategic plans and teams comprised of executives and senior leadership.

  • Outstanding data analysis / strategic thinking skills.

  • Demonstrated skills in building effective business partner relationships.

  • Regularly contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.

  • Humble, willing to do what it takes and contribute to the joint work in any way asked.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum eight (8) years of related experience.

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in a consulting role preferred.

  • Masters degree in business, health care administration, or six (6) years of experience in a directly related field.
