Description
The Senior Instructor, Practical Nursing (PN) teaches and evaluates students in accordance with the NJBON standards for Practical Nursing Programs.
The position is contingent upon receipt of funding from the Carl D. Perkins grant
Examples of Duties
Teaches and evaluates students in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical practice areas in accordance with the PN nursing program and course requirements
Assists with operating the PN clinical laboratory, including training faculty on laboratory equipment and assisting with set-ups and clean-up
Participates in student remediation activities, including ATI proctoring, open-lab sessions, and course content tutoring
Participates in the advisement, recruitment, and retention of Nursing and Health Science students
Schedules student clinical rotations, orientations, and badge distributions
Manages student health and program-wide requirements and prepares clinical attestation reports
Manages the Trajecsys online system with responsibilities to include product orientation for faculty, staff, and students, monitoring of student laboratory and clinical attendance, and completing student clinical evaluations with faculty
Maintains standards of professional nursing practice as an individual and a nursing team member
Mentors clinical faculty ? Serves as a role model for nursing students
Participates in curriculum updates to ensure it meets the standards set by the accrediting bodies and reflects current best practices in nursing education
Collaborates with other faculty members, healthcare professionals, and clinical partners to enhance the quality of education provided to nursing students
Participates in college-wide and nursing department orientations and continuing education to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
Adheres to all applicable College, Nursing Program, and Clinical Agency policies and procedures
Typical Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Masters in Nursing Science (MSN) preferred
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey
Experience:
- Minimum two years of current nursing clinical experience
Competencies and Skills Required:
Ability to teach in all areas of nursing
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
