THE POSITION

Software Engineer (SW), Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Auburn Hills, MI:

Design solutions to measure test data using Diadem, LabVIEW, Catman, HeadAcoustics, LinkPro, Matlab and lab management software for test in dynamometers and other brake testing equipment for general brake testing and motion studies with lasers measurement systems. Create, feed, connect and maintain SQL (Structured Query Language), databases to register lab activities such as parts and fixtures tracking, request creation and process flows. Responsible for software design to create automated solutions for lab processes on C, C++, C#, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, LabView, Diadem, VisualBasic, Java, Prolink and Assembler. Create test reports using LinkPro, Matlab, Diadem/Labview, Power BI and Excel. Provide technical support in customer projects for lab testing of automotive brakes for design validation, project validation and design of experiments. Utilize Operating Deflection Shape, ODS, measurement equipment to conduct ODS and Frequency Response Function (FRF) testing and engage in analysis of ODS and FRF data. Diagnose and repair dynamometer and brake testing machine sensors, controllers and computer systems in hardware and software. Provide technical support and recommendations for potential brake noise solutions based on analysis of NVH data.

Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week. 

Full time employment, Monday -- Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or a related field, plus 2 years of related work experience.     Of the required experience, must have experience in each of the following:

  • 2 years of experience diagnosing and fixing electromechanical machine equipment issues, including noisy sensor signals;
  • 2 years of experience using Visual Studios for software development and code documentation in programming projects;
  • 2 years of experience with sensor instrumentation, including reading prints, troubleshooting sensors, creating testing rigs for running tests to study parts behavior, and translating sensor signals into meaningful data;
  • 2 years of experience automating Windows computer processes, including making backups of hard drives and software systems;
  • 2 years of experience developing software to move, update and show data in a SQL (structured query language) database;
  • 2 years of experience using National Instrument tools, including Diadem, to create summary reports of acquired data, including diagnosing hardware and software issues of National Instrument systems;
  • 2 years of experience using Matlab and VisualBasic to create summary reports for acquired data;
  • 1 year of experience in troubleshooting microcontrollers and assessing technical issues; and
  • 1 year of experience using C++ or C#.

Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week.  

International travel required up to 10%. Domestic travel required up to 10%.
