DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Flexible work Arrangement: Hybrid

The Sr. Analyst/Engineer is responsible for the operational security, risk management, architecture resilience, and lifecycle management of PJM's Energy Management Systems (EMS) suite of applications.

PJM's EMS ensures the safety, reliability and security of the bulk electric power system for more than 65 million people. The EMS is a collection of applications used by the control room operators and engineering support staff. The core applications include the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Automated Generation Control (AGC), Model Management (MM), Operator and Dispatcher Training System (OTS/DTS) and Transmission Network Applications (TNA). The position will focus on the security and resiliency, lifecycle management, and EMS systems upgrades and releases adhering to PJM's Software Development, Integration and Capital Portfolio Management processes.

This position will also plan, coordinate, and execute drills and test events and remediation activities to ensure the operational health and readiness of PJM's tertiary and quaternary environments.

The position includes the responsibility of on-call coverage as dictated by the needs of the business and respond, as necessary, to support calls in off-hours.

Essential Functions:  * Work closely with cross-functional teams, including PJM security, engineering, and operations, to integrate security measures seamlessly into the PJM EMS environment.  * Collaborate on the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust security measures for the networks, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other protective technologies used by the EMS applications.  * Coordinate and engage with security groups within PJM for provable, documented adherence to good security policy. Collaboratively work with PJM's Enterprise Security and Architecture teams to ensure all EMS applications are appropriately security hardened with appropriate resiliency patterns throughout system lifecycle changes.  * Collaborate with ITS, Security and Operations on the thorough assessments of PJM EMS systems, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing effective security measures.  * Provide support for the Operator and Dispatcher Training Simulator to ensure operational readiness, coordination of patches and as needed diagnostics for simulations.  * Monitoring the Operator and Dispatcher Training Simulator system health and connectivity to dependent applications in support of weekly and ad hoc operator training.  * Coordination, planning and execution of Operations and ITS staff for system upgrades, software releases, security tests and vulnerability management activities.  * Collaborate with project teams to design, develop, manage architecture resiliency within the Energy Management System (EMS) technology architecture stack. Participate and actively draw upon industry lessons learned and human performance feedback of system events for incorporation within PJM EMS design and architecture.  * Coordinate EMS application business impact assessment for hardware and software changes initiated by the PJM organization.  * Responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of drills, test events and remediation activities to ensure the operational health and readiness of PJM tertiary and quaternary environments.  * Brainstorm, contribute and collaborate to identify areas for administration efficiencies, potential automation ideas and process improvements.  * Grant, modify or reject application maintenance outage requests based on the needs of system operations.  * Develop and maintain relationships with vendor support Subject Matter Experts to collaborate on diagnostic, troubleshooting and technical architectures.  * Provide 24x7 callout coverage as dictated by the needs of the business and respond, as necessary, to support calls in off-hours.

Char cteristics & Qualifications: Required:  * BS degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or equivalent work experience  * At least 5 years of work experience  * Experience supporting and managing mission critical systems running on multiple operating system platforms and middleware.  * Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail  * Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis  * Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support

Preferred:  * MS, Engineering  * At least 5 years of experience * Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.  * Knowledge of industrial protocols, standards, and technologies.  * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen understanding of emerging OT security threats.  * Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
