Summary The position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Engineering Service Line, Charlie Norwood VAMC, Augusta, Georgia. Incumbent performs independently and uses own initiative, administratively reporting to the Assistant Chief Engineer. Incumbent is expected to recognize the needs of the Medical Center, and has the authority to act on their own initiative in order to meet those needs. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES Delegates responsibility and authority and to work with and through others effectively and to review the work of others Corresponds and maintains close liaison with other Department Heads and with discipline-specific leadership Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the organization ensuring that all functional areas comply with legal and regulatory requirements Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff Collaborates with subordinate supervisors and program managers to ensure integrated goals and priorities for the Engineering Service are met and in line with Medical Center priorities Provides expert advice/consultation to senior colleagues and/or agency officials responsible for healthcare engineering operations Provides administrative and policy direction to the maintenance and operations supervisors, and others as appropriate in terms of the broadly defined mission of the VA and the function of the engineering M&O program in that mission Performs assignments involving review and establishment of policies and directives to guide activities of engineering staff in accomplishing the mission of engineering service. The policies, directives, and standard operating procedures will be based on professional knowledge of various engineering fields Corresponds and maintains close liaison with other Department Heads and with discipline-specific leadership Identifies requirements and initiates requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies and space to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives Provides professional engineering work in several disciplines such as civil engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering Provides professional advice to management on problems encountered during construction projects Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:330pm. Work schedule subject to change based on agency needs. Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician Supervisor/PD0141260 Physical Requirements: Repairs and installations are made from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. This requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The work requires frequently lifting and carrying of tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 20 pounds and, less often, up to 40 pounds. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.
