The Data Engineer, Provider Platform will be responsible for designing, building, and operating the software, systems, and processes to help establish the next generation of provider platform experiences at Somatus, from real-time data pipelines to ensure end-to-end security and privacy of our patient’s information. It will have an impact on Somatus’ ability to use data to guide our physician partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify meaningful problems for our patients and our business
Own the design and delivery of reliable, resilient, and scalable systems and platforms that collect, process, and surface our data
Establish and promote best practices for working with data across the organization
Work with product managers & data analysts to create workflows for developing and deploying production-ready systems
Partner with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
Keep data secure, including via appropriate access control mechanisms, a stringent secure-by-design mindset, and following industry best practices or forging new ones where needed
Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks (ex: Scio, Storm, Spark, EMR, etc)
Drive optimization, testing, and tooling to improve data quality
Implement ETL processes and data pipelines to load data from a variety of first- and third-party applications

Required Education and Experience:
Two (2) years of data infrastructure or distributed systems experience
Experience building, deploying, monitoring, and optimizing production data collection systems at scale
One (1) to two (2) years of experience:
Owning projects that involve many contributors and stakeholders, technical and non-technical alike
Building libraries and tooling that provide a beautiful abstraction to users
Building large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks like Scio, Storm, or Spark
Promoting and implementing industry best practices
Working with healthcare data i.e., claims and HER
Developing CI/CD workflows
Building in a microservices architecture
Scaling and maintaining production databases
Machine learning model deployment
Working with data analytics groups and SQL
Leveraging best practices for a services architecture with CI/CD, including building out testing suites for developers working in a CI/CD deployment environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Systems engineer mindset, with reliability and scalability always top of mind
Strong analytical intuition
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally
Ability to present and communicate information at various levels of the organization
Knowledge and experience working with Python or similar programming language
Familiarity with the agile development process
Understanding of cloud security
Strong collaborative mindset to work across teams and with both junior and senior resources
Comfortable in a fast-paced, growth-oriented culture that changes and achieves quickly
Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Normal manual dexterity is required.
Normal speaking and hearing abilities to interact with others in an office environment, over telephone or other video conferencing platform.
