Job Description:

The Role:

As the Sterile Processing and Distribution Manager at MaineGeneral Health, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our healthcare professionals have the critical tools and equipment they need to provide outstanding care. This key leadership role is vital in maintaining infection control and safety standards across our organization, directly impacting the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead, inspire, and mentor a dedicated team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of departmental goals, aligning with MaineGeneral’s strategic vision.

  • Oversee all aspects of staffing, including recruitment, performance management, employee satisfaction, and conflict resolution, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.

  • Manage scheduling, payroll, and resource allocation to meet operational demands efficiently.

  • Oversee departmental budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining contracts, and fostering strong vendor relationships.

  • Identify and advocate for equipment and supply needs, monitor their usage, and ensure all systems are fully functional and stocked.

  • Ensure the highest standards of service quality, working closely with clinical teams to meet their equipment and supply requirements.

  • Oversee operations across two locations—The Alfond Center for Health and Thayer Center for Health—ensuring consistent and streamlined processes.

What You'll Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, along with certification as a Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service and Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Sterile Processing and Distribution Manager (CSPDM) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.

  • Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) is required within two years of hire.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven ability to inspire, manage, and develop teams to achieve exceptional results.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively handle staff relations and resolve conflicts.

  • A detail-oriented, solutions-driven approach with a passion for maintaining high standards of safety and quality in healthcare.

  • This position will play a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of patient safety and care at both of our key sites, helping MaineGeneral continue its mission of health and excellence.
