OVERVIEW:

The Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Office of Information Technology (MaineIT) provides information technology support to over 13,000 employees. MaineIT oversees large scale enterprise applications that support the critical and diverse business needs of the State of Maine and its agencies.

    ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:

    The Office of Information Technology is seeking a senior technical professional who is highly proficient in Cisco LAN/WAN networking with further experience in a Cisco security and automation tools within ISE and DNAC. The selected individual will join as a contributing team member with other highly qualified IT Cisco and network experts and will assist in engineering, installing, and maintaining enterprise level core Cisco networks.

    Work is performed under limited supervision. This position is located in Augusta with field work throughout the State. The Network Services Group requires 24x7 hardware support. This requires the position to be on-call in a rotation format.

    TECHNICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Evaluating, developing, and implementing policies defining enterprise level Cisco’s Identity Service Engine (ISE) environments. Possessing prior experience in Cisco DNA center

  • Monitoring and reacting to security flags produced by Cisco Stealthwatch

  • Engineering, maintenance, troubleshooting all aspects of Cisco networks

  • Engineering WAN, MAN and LAN topology designs.

  • Overseeing network performance through monitoring through Cisco Stealthwatch and DNA Center

  • Handle work such as generating, installing, enhancing, diagnosing, correcting, and maintaining network operations and related systems software for an enterprise-level network.

  • Provide supervisory and leadership skills and establish development opportunities for technical personnel as well as provide administrative and vendor support.

  • Provide key technical knowledge and offer suggestions to other team players and senior IT advice to our leaders to inform best practices and decision-making.

    To be successful the selected candidate, you must be highly trained and experienced in Cisco routing, switching and management systems, be able to solve complex network issues, provide sound judgement and analysis, and offer viable solutions. This role requires an understand of networking performance management/capacity planning, hardware and software configurations, integrations, and all facets of implementation.

  • Engage on project and work with IT program needs that require Cisco wired and wireless capabilities.

  • Perform a full range of system administration functions from design, acquire, configure, install, monitor, and maintain Cisco routed networks and switch fabric as well as Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE), DNA Center and Stealthwatch.

  • Share technical knowledge about Cisco switches and routers and other data communication software and hardware. This includes data center hardware and software.

  • Develop complex reports and provide solutions to current network slowness or crashes.

  • Develop and maintain configuration standards, documentation of network devices, including servicing and upgrading of equipment.

  • Create and maintain overall network topologies and makes appropriate changes when design changes.

  • Understanding of customer relationship best practices.

  • Demonstrate desire to exercise accountability in a professional manner.

  • Demonstrate ability to respond in a timely and effective manner.

  • Understand empathy and how to exercise it with a variety of personalities.

  • Understand emotional intelligence principles.

  • Lift gear, up to 40lbs, into place and climb ladders while in the field.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 8 years of a combination of related post-secondary education, technical certifications, or technology related work experience. Related training, internship experience etc. may be credited as related experience on a month-per-month basis.

  • A valid State of Maine driver's license.

  • Preference will be give to those who submit a resume and cover letter for consideration.

The selected candidate will be required to pass the required background checks(fingerprinting may be required) as a condition of employment.
