Job Overview

The Behavioral Health Specialist Sr - Intensive Services is responsible for direct patient care and safety including supervision and management of children and adolescents hospitalized for severe psychiatric symptoms and are at risk for endangering themselves or other; performs duties and delivers therapeutic interventions under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed psychiatric professional. This position may encounter potentially volatile care situations that could result in bodily harm. Develops and maintains a project that furthers the mission of the unit and benefits the patients, families, and/or staff of the unit. Works within a multidisciplinary team to help facilitate the appropriate placement and transition of individuals within the mental health system. Coordinating with internal and external mental health professionals, facilities, and support services to ensure a smooth and compassionate disposition process. Ensures strong organizational skills, and effective communication to support individuals in their mental health journey. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for Collaborating with mental health professionals to determine suitable placement options based on individual needs. Communicate effectively with internal and external mental health teams to facilitate seamless transitions. Establish and maintain positive relationships with mental health facilities and service providers. Communicate with the families to provide information, address concerns, and ensure a collaborative approach to disposition planning.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree with a minor in psychology or related field Experience: 3 years of pediatric psych specialty experience in a therapeutic setting Equivalency: Professional relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Certification(s): Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification This position may require a BLS certificatio from the American Heart Association.
