Job Overview

The Lead Medical Technologist Precision Diagnostics directs day-to-day activities within the laboratory section and serves as a primary resource for technical and clinical expertise in the lab section. Oversight of and responsible for performing laboratory testing and procedures in any/all areas of the laboratory and reporting timely accurate test results; participates in laboratory quality assurance activities with advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements. These positions will be responsible for wet lab technical operations over NGS based methodologies and the operations over the specimen processing, triage or non NGS based technical assays within the laboratory. The technical leads will serve as the subject matter experts in the given domain and act as training expert and be the initial troubleshooting and oversight of daily operations within the given area.

Department: Precision Diagnostics (PDX Lab) Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: Day, 7:30am-6pm, 4-10's. Rotating Sundays and occasional holiday coverage.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institutio EXPERIENCE - Four years clinical laboratory experience required. Four (4) years of previous experience in molecular diagnostics is preferred EQUIVALENCY - Meeting one of the other requirements set by the ASCP Board of Certification may be accepted in lieu of degree. CERTIFICATION(S) - Medical Technologist/Scientist Certification ASCP or equivalent

Directs the day to day operation of the laboratory section(s) and assists in the supervision of the staff; serves as a liaison with leadership. Functions as a primary resource for technical and clinical expertise in lab section and a clinical consultant to care providers, involving manager/supervisor, pathologist or medical director when indicated. Responsible for reporting accurate results, evaluating results for clinical significance and validity, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up.
