Job Title: R&D Chemist

Job Description

The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for performing a broad range of quality assurance testing of chemicals in our Aurora, Nebraska laboratory. This position uses specific methods and techniques to ensure the standards set forth are met. The Quality Control Chemist will conduct research that results in the development of agricultural products. The chemist will work independently and report to the Lab Manager at the Pleasant Plains, IL facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic raw materials, in-process, and finished goods QC bench chemistry testing.

  • Work on plant QC as well as in the D&I (Development and Innovation) group.

  • Conduct research and development on new ideas and requests from the sales team.

  • Maintain a lab book and related databases.

  • Assist in instrument calibration and perform maintenance and calibrations of laboratory instruments/equipment.

  • Conduct testing of samples to ensure Quality Control.

  • Troubleshoot and test specific batches to determine the root cause of off-spec product and recommend ingredient adjustments to meet required specifications.

  • Enter quality control data into software programs.

  • Analyze data and provide updates to teams.

  • Work with the team to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.

  • Provide quality control supporting information to the Regulatory Team.

  • Assist in preparing data for publications.

  • Present technical product information to sales groups for training purposes and to key distribution partners.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills

  • Experience with presenting technical product information to sales groups and key distribution partners

Work Environment

This role is based in a brand new plant with state-of-the-art laboratory instruments and equipment. The chemist will be the sole lab personnel, working independently in the Aurora, NE facility and reporting to the main location in Pleasant Plains, IL. The facility is designed to support innovation and quality control in the production of agricultural products.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $35.00/hr.
