Transportation Landscape Architect I:Develops environmentally sensitive landscape architectural designs and provides support to the landscape development and establishment of projects. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Transportation Landscape Architect II:Develops environmentally sensitive landscape architectural designs and provides support to the landscape development and establishment of projects. May serve as a lead worker for professional and technical employees engaged in landscape design projects. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Transportation Landscape Architect III:Develops environmentally sensitive landscape architectural designs and provides support to the landscape development and establishment of projects. Serves as a lead worker for professional and technical employees engaged in developing and coordinating the implementation of landscape design projects. Work requires contact and/or coordination with district/division staff, governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Transportation Landscape Architect I:Attends public forums and makes presentations on landscape architecture subject matter.Develops and reviews plans, specifications, estimates and special provisions pertaining to landscape projects and/or landscape items related to roadway construction projects.Reviews geographic data from various sources, including other state agencies, aerial imagery, existing maps, and databases.May serve as an instructor for departmental courses.May serve on panels and/or committees related to landscape projects.Oversees and coordinates administration of landscape programs or projects with public or private organizations, consultants, districts and divisions.Provides schematic roadway designs and layouts for view corridors, valuable horticulture and salvageable vegetation and other landscape amenities.Provides technical assistance on issues concerning landscape architecture.Represents the Department in meetings with local and state officials and the public.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Landscape Architect II:All of the above and:Monitors and reviews contract letting information for landscape projects.Leads consultants on ADA project development.Oversees and coordinates administration of ADA programs or projects with public or private organizations, consultants, districts and divisions.Prepares and seals final plans, specifications, estimates and other necessary construction and contract documentation for letting.Provides support to landscape field personnel, divisions and/or districts on issues concerning landscape architecture.Reviews and evaluates departmental policies and procedures affecting landscape programs.Serves as a district or division program coordinator for landscape programs and projects.Evaluates new products and methods related to landscape projects.Transportation Landscape Architect III:All of the above and:Analyzes and recommends approval for use of consultants and/or landscape contracts.Assists with research and analysis of incoming correspondence, reports and other written material relating to landscape and ADA programs.Coordinates with consultants, construction firms and governmental representatives to accurately depict project impacts.Develops training courses and/or materials.Performs architectural work in coordination with engineering and support associates.Responsible for complex landscape architectural projects from initiation to comp etion.Serves as a lead worker and trains others.Trains less experienced Registered Landscape Architects and/or Landscape Architect Assistants.Travels/drives to make on-site reviews, inspections and analysis.
