UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN Director of Research Services Administration and Infrastructure, Dell Medical School in Austin, Texas
Work with the Vice Dean of Research, Assistant Dean of Research, Executive Director, Director of Sponsored Projects and Clinical Trials Administration, UT Austin main campus, senior leadership, and other officers and directors to ensure operational decisions, actions, and resource allocations are supportive of the School's business goals and objectives with respect to research quality, regulatory affairs, data use, and research information technology (RIT). Collaborate with research leadership to identify, develop, implement and operationalize long- and short- term strategic plans in areas of job responsibility. Collaborate with the Dell Medical School IT department in the development and operationalization of processes and infrastructure related to RIT across the research enterprise. In coordination with research leadership, support the UT Medicine infrastructure build-out as it relates to research.Operational: Oversee all research quality, regulatory affairs, and research services across the research enterprise, coordinating with Dell Med senior leadership and Dell Med research leadership, Seton/Ascension, UT Health Austin, and UT Austin main campus and other partners to ensure successful execution and administration. In coordination with research leadership, provide staff oversight of data use in research. Provide oversight and serve as a subject matter expert for the research enterprise regarding the interpretation, implementation, and adherence with federal and other policies and regulations related to research, specifically including clinical trials. Liaise with IT leadership to ensure support and resources with respect to information technology and research activities on behalf of Office of Research. Inform appropriate school or institutional officials on regulatory and other issues impacting research and recommend corrective action plans to institutional leadership, providing direct support to researchers and study teams.Operational: Identify appropriate internal controls and provide mechanisms to monitor and support compliance with respect to areas within job responsibility. Coordinating with Dell Med research leadership, develop mechanisms and processes for collecting and managing statistics for internal management and external reporting for areas within job responsibility. Coordinate with external and internal partners in areas associated with portfolio to ensure successful completion of duties, including Seton, UT Austin main campus, UTHA and others. On behalf of the OOR, serve as a contact for all RIT related issues and engagements, specifically as it relates to the management, support, build-out, and oversight of the intersection of research activities and RIT systems management and support. Work directly with IT leadership to ensure a culture of both compliance and support for activities that have non-standard IT components and/or may require additional solutions. On behalf of the OOR, in coordination with the Executive Director, evaluate and accept measured operational risk in approving any research-related projects and associated data use.Management: Manage team of professionals supporting research quality, regulatory affairs, research services, and RIT including those components of clinical trials. Responsible for recruitment, management, and development of staff within area of job responsibility aligned with institutional human resource policies, Dell Med values, and team-based initiatives.Leadership: Provide professional guidance to Dell Medical School leadership and other internal and external stakeholders regarding areas within job responsibility. Develop and build organizational infrastructure and partnerships. Represent areas within job responsibility to DMS leadership, main campus, and others.Other related duties as assigned.
