TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E353 Transportation Engineer Supervisor: District Maintenance(Austin District) in Austin, Texas

Supervises personnel engaged in transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and bridge inspection. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials, private entities and contractors. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Coordinates maintenance matters with Area Engineers and reviews area office contract submissions.Drives and travels to project and work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.Establishes, modifies, or interprets applicable standards, rules, methods, procedures, practices, and policies.Monitors contract performance evaluates contract deliverables, reviews billing documentation, monitors the consultant's compliance with the terms of the contract, and prepares and delivers a written evaluation of the consultant's performance.Oversees data collection, analyses, forecasts, and plan development.Participates in district plan review activities.Prepares and submits Plans, Specifications and Estimates (P. S. E.) on projects.Responsible for the maintenance program.Responsible for utility and driveway permits.Reviews change orders, supplemental agreements, memorandum agreements and extra work orders, reviews monthly and final estimates prior to submittal.Reviews, coordinates, monitors, and approves routine and emergency maintenance contracts; performs/oversees maintenance specifications writing/review, plans and proposal review, and preparation of estimates for letting.Serves as a consultant to staff engineers regarding maintenance operations as they relate to administration, programming, planning, design, construction, and right-of-way in order to coordinate district operations.Supervises professional and administrative staff.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. This position requires you to drive for TxDOT.
