Maintain policies and procedures manuals for programs as directed by THECB and how they interact with other aid. Design, prepare and maintain forms, reports, and files. Work closely with Student Success Initiatives, the Admissions Liaison, and the Graduation Help Desk to ensure a positive student experience as students navigate through the financial aid process from matriculation to graduation. Provide training to staff through presentations and hands-on work. Maintains up to date knowledge on laws and regulations governing programs administered by OSFA and other campus partners. Coordinates with EM Business Services to ensure scholarship funds are compliant with source requirements. Ensures relevant parties are informed of regulations. Interact with other University departments, state and federal agencies, and industry partners. Participate in community outreach, making presentations on various financial aid topics.Monitors financial aid files for students receiving the Texas Leadership Scholarship or similar program by reviewing student eligibility and verification issues, awarding financial aid, and resolving financial aid disbursement issues. Monitor and verify applicant eligibility. Reviews continuing students eligibility for renewal of Texas Leadership Scholarship.Research process and procedural problems and recommend solutions to remove barriers. Proactively identify students affected by financial aid barriers through data review and manipulation. Coordinates student communications efforts with SSI staff.Counsel students on financial aid and scholarship eligibility, personal financial planning, and money management. Participate in outreach, making presentations on various financial aid topics. Assist in events sponsored for students receiving recruitment or success initiative scholarships. Works with Student Success program coordinators to provide triage support for students.Interact with other University departments, state and federal agencies, and industry partners. Serve as liaison for department to other parts of the university; exchange information and coordinate activities, as needed. Provide training to staff on information required based on assigned team.Attend professional development and training meetings. Assist students during orientation and registration as requested. Evaluating unsatisfactory academic progress appeals as needed. Assist supervisors as directed. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described for a Financial Aid Counselor.
