Part-Time Senior Environmental Specialist

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, and site assessment services to clients worldwide. We are seeking a Part-time Senior-level Environmental Specialist with the opportunity to work remotely within the State of Texas.

Roles and Responsibilities

The candidate must have the ability to perform field surveys, including stormwater pollution prevention plan inspections, water of the U.S. delineations, threatened and endangered species assessments, vegetation/habitat mapping as well as other natural resources evaluations. In addition to field survey experience, the candidate should have experience developing quality technical reports and agency permit applications (i.e., USACE, USFWS, state/local agencies) with limited supervision.

As a Sr. Environmental Specialist, you will support and help lead diverse project efforts focused on electrical transmission lines, oil and gas pipelines, renewable energy, environmental surveys, NEPA analyses, and federal, state, and local regulatory permitting services. The candidate should have an established and successful work history of executing project safety protocols, providing quality of services and work product, timely delivery of services and deliverables.

The person in this position needs to be detail-oriented, have demonstrated the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, effective communication, and technical writing skills. The successful candidate will also support project management, proposal development, and client interaction.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field

  • Eight (8) plus years’ prior environmental consulting work, ideally with linear corridor projects and/or energy infrastructure-related projects e.g., pipelines, electric transmission, power generation facilities, terminals, etc.

  • Demonstrated project experience conducting water of the U.S. assessments, threatened and endangered (T&E) species assessments, and other evaluations related to natural resources

  • Ability to provide quality control for technical reports

  • Demonstrated experience with Section 404/10 permitting, including agency correspondence

  • Knowledge of Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations and USFWS coordination experience

  • Successful client interaction history

  • Strong independent, problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Willing and able to travel throughout the region with potential travel throughout the U.S.

Preferred Certifications/Experience

  • Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan Inspections

  • Experience working with multi-discipline project teams, including cultural resources, engineering, etc.

  • Experience with business development experience preferred

  • Stormwater and/or Section 401 Water Quality consulting experience is a plus
