A summary of benefits can be found athttps://www.puc.texas.gov/HumanResources/Home/Benefits DIVISION OFFICE OF POLICY AND DOCKET MANAGEMENT POSITION TYPE - This position may be eligible for telecommuting for up two (2) days of telecommuting. The Office of Policy and Docket Management is split into two separate sections, Policy Development and Docket Management. The Policy Development section prepares paper for the Commissioners review before an open meeting. The Docket Management section processes all new incoming cases that are filed at the Commission. OPDM also processes orders that are generated out of the open meetings and sends dockets to the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) where they conduct hearings. Docket Managementis seeking a Legal Assistant who has a desire to work in the utility regulatory industry and would like to expand their knowledge, skills and experience performing routine to highly advanced legal assistant work in the Office of Policy and Docket Management. Work involves researching, analyzing, investigating, and drafting legal documents and orders, and assisting judges with successful case management. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the following required minimum qualifications: Legal Assistant II Certification from a formal Legal Assistant Program or Paralegal Certificate Program. One (1) additional year of work experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary may be substituted for the certification; and A minimum of one (1) year work experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary. Legal Assistant III Certification from a formal Legal Assistant Program or Paralegal Certificate Program. One (1) additional year of work experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary may be substituted for the certification; and A minimum of three (3) years work experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary. Legal Assistant IV Certification from a formal Legal Assistant Program or Paralegal Certificate Program. One (1) additional year of work experience as a paralegal, legal assis ant, or legal secretary may be substituted for the certification; and A minimum of four (4) years work experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary. Preferred Qualifications: Work experience as a paralegal, legal assistant or legal secretary in administrative law or utility law.
