  • Two years or more of prior experience in professional college admissions

  • Experience with event coordination

  • Experience working remotely

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to recruit prospective students and to promote Texas State in the Austin area. The Austin Regional Counselor participates in all aspects of recruitment, both in the Austin area and on campus.

Expected activities include but are not limited to visits to high schools and community colleges, presentations, admissions events, and communication with students, parents, and counselors.

The Austin Regional Counselor position requires excellent oral and written communication skills as well as exceptional interpersonal skills.

The Austin Regional Counselor must reside in the Austin area.

Job Duties

The characteristics and responsibilities of the ideal Austin Regional Counselor include but are not limited to:

  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with individuals and in a group setting

  • Exceptional interpersonal skill

  • Providing exceptional customer service

  • Extensive travel

  • Available for evening, overnight, and weekend work

  • Participating in college fairs and admissions events throughout the assigned territory and on campus

  • Conducting large and small group presentations

  • Collaborating with the admissions team

  • Planning recruitment events

  • Communicating and establishing relationships with prospective students, parents, and counselors via available media

  • Preparing recruitment reports

  • Reviewing admission applications and recommending decisions

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must reside in the Austin area

Additional Information to Applicants
