SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST - Abbott / Austin, TX
Lead strategy for operational data analysis, and data system development to support divisional manufacturing efforts within the United States. Work closely with key business stakeholders, to identify areas for improvement in data systems and analytics capability, determine site data strategy, and lead the local team of junior analysts to execute on data projects within Agile and Waterfall lifecycle delivery models. Work collaboratively with a diverse cross-functional team including junior analysts, manufacturing process engineers, quality assurance specialists, manufacturing operations, and senior management. Define the data strategy for Industry 4.0, advanced manufacturing capability and to guide solutions towards that divisional goal, including the use of Machine Learning and AI capability development in support of Advanced Manufacturing capabilities. Develop software and analytics platforms to provide manufacturing data monitoring capabilities, particularly with solutions using a variety of technologies, including Python and JMP programming languages; Aveva PI and Power BI data management systems; SQL database tools; and Git/GitHub software version control software. Develop data process automation activities in Python such as automatic and scheduled data analysis, software versions, automated emails, and reports. Develop Extraction, Load, and Transformation (ETL) pipeline processes using Python and JMP programming languages for automatic data processing and Power BI for Power BI dataflows and dashboards. Create impactful and information visualizations of manufacturing environment operational data and research using data visualization capabilities of Python, JMP, Power BI, and Aveva PI to better inform business decisions of stakeholders.Monitor manufacturing processes, identify trends in manufacturing performance, identify areas of improvement, and with a keen understanding of the manufacturing process, collaborate with process engineers to identify root cause. Perform software validation activities within a medical device quality environment where necessary, with an emphasis on adhering to software system lifecycle requirements.Support manufacturing process validation activities where necessary, including data support for equipment qualification and test method validation. Monitor global complaints trends and identify process correlation and to inform product improvements. Apply knowledge of medical device manufacturing regulations, perform qualified and validated process analysis tasks while adhering to quality regulations and processes.
Masters or foreign equivalent degree in Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Data Science or in a related quantitative field of study with at least 3 years of experience in: (i) Developing Extraction, Load, and Transformation (ETL) pipeline processes using Python and JMP programming languages and Power BI for Power BI dataflows and dashboards; (ii) SQL database tools; (iii) Git/GitHub software version control software; (iv) creating impactful and information visualizations of manufacturing environment operational data and research using data visualization capabilities of Python, JMP, Power BI, and Aveva PI; (v) monitoring manufacturing processes, identifying trends in manufacturing performance, identifying areas of improvement, and with a keen understanding of the manufacturing process, collaborating with process engineers to identify root causes; and (vi) performing software validation activities within a medical device quality environment where necessary, with an emphasis on adhering to software system lifecycle requirements.An EOE. 40 hrs/wk.
