United States Fleet Forces Command SUPERVISOR INDUSTRIAL SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in Bahrain Island, Bahrain

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INDUSTRIAL SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Waterfront Operation Division of FW DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET BAHRAIN. The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week). Relocation and recruitment incentives up to 25% may be authorized. Responsibilities You will administer work orders for the repair and modernization of naval vessels. You will review specifications to ensure completeness and conformance to authorized work. You will act as funds administrator for the assigned availability and contracts. You will interface with members of the ship's force to provide current project information and notify responsible personnel of scheduled evolutions. You will assign work items/specifications for development and/or tracking and schedules the work of subordinate team members. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Understanding how the mechanical and electrical system on the ship must operate independently and be integrated into the final overall test/inspection of the ship; 2) Managing complex systems aboard naval vessels and possessing the ability to coordinate work of all activities (i.e. private contractors, ship's force, AITs, etc.) to ensure systems are repaired in a timely manner; 3) Reviewing funds and accounting procedures promulgated by Navy Comptroller (NAVCOMPT) manuals to avoid misappropriation of funds; 4) Evaluating technical and complex problem areas that occur in the ship repair; and 5) Using automated information systems concepts, system capabilities and economic usage to effectively complete assignments. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. This position has been identified as a critical position and thus is part of the FDRMC Workforce Development program as outlined in CNRMC Instruction 12410.1A. Participation in this program is a condition of employment. Required to perform the above duties at a variety of job sites. It is incumbent's responsibility to transport him/her in an expeditious manner between job sites in the local area of his/her permanent duty station with reimbursement of costs in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations. Physical Demands: The incumbent manages a project office at the contractor's facility (i.e. shipyard). While much of the work is sedentary, there is a requirement to tour ships in various stages of renovation/repair and participate in at-sea shipboard trials. Daily shipboard observations requires, climbing, bending, stooping and even crawling. Required to travel, via all modes of transportation, in the Fifth and Sixth Fleet AOR, CON US, and FDRMC, Naples. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting within an industrial shipyard, with considerable (daily) exposure to shipyard conditions where safety shoes, glasses, and hard hats are required. The incumbent is also required (occasionally) to participate in at-sea shipboard trials. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONTINUED: Relocation and recruitment incentives up to 25% may be authorized. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. The Office of the Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) limits the number of Bahrain based DoD personnel accompanied tours. Dependent entry approval from Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command is required for all accompanied tours prior to extending the final job offer and prior to issuing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Accompanied tours are not guaranteed. Education There are no Educational requirements for this position.
