Overview

The Benefits Assistant (Human Resources) supports the goals of Human Resources leadership and the benefits team in the administration of various health and wellness programs. This position coordinates and schedules meetings, prepares meeting agendas, and tracks team projects deliverables and timelines. Key responsibilities related to benefit plan administration include, but are not limited to, Worker’s Compensation data entry and medical claim processing, Wellness programming, and general support with administering Health and Welfare Plans.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates and schedules meetings for Human Resources (HR) leadership and the benefits team, takes meeting notes, tracks deliverables and timelines on projects, creates meeting agendas, arranges conference space, and coordinates logistics with facilities and other departments for onsite/offsite HR and benefit events.

  2. Enter data of work injury reports and related documentation, including entering First report of Injury (FROI) forms.

  3. Acts as a liaison with the occupational health clinic and Workers Comp administrator. Works with benefits team to advise employees on Workers Compensation claim reporting procedures, medical bills, light duty restrictions and re-entry into the workplace.

  4. Monitors the benefits team email inbox and responds to various employee inquiries in a timely manner.

  5. Supports employee engagement in Wellness and benefits programming by developing attractive, captivating communications.

  6. Participates in the planning and promotion of wellness events, benefit fairs, and departmental engagement activities.

  7. Coordinates the Dependent Verification process for new hires, life event changes, and open enrollment reconciliation. Runs reports and reconciles documentation requirements for dependent benefit eligibility. Performs email outreach to employees who have not provided appropriate documentation and reconciles outstanding requirements.

  8. Supports HR leadership with a variety of HR projects, presentations, expense processing, and conference planning.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Healthcare Administration, Communications or related preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

HR internship or previous administrative support experience preferred, preferably in a hospital and/or academic environment.
